3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Enjoyed via a bottle from Otto’s in Shorewood, WI. The beer pours a murky, orange-gold with active carbonation, a mounded off-white head that is retained long after the poor and extensive lacing on the glass. The aroma is toffee and basement while the taste is a light caramel with lots of hoppy dryness. The palate is nice but there is a definite booziness that detracts from the flavor I was expecting. The finish is very bitter and dry.

Bottled 750ml. -from Svijet Piva Zagreb. Shiny amber coloured, medium sized off-white head, citrusy nutty nose. Moderate malty, caramel, citrusy hoppy, mild spicy and candy sugar with notes of alcohol and grass. Brett is totally subdued. Bitter finish. Really good one.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(Bottle) Reddish brown colour with brief, foamy head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of caramel, dried fruit, raisins, prunes, dark bread, hay, citrus peel and spicy hints of wild yeast. Malty, fruity taste with caramel, raisins, prunes, dark fruit, orange peel, perfumy flavours of wild yeast and a balanced spicy/citric bitterness in a finish with a slightly vinous edge. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Interesting beer, quite complex and tasty with a balanced touch of wild yeast. Very nice.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20

Draught at BrewDog Camden on 13 Oct 2012. Poured a bright amber, with a dense off white head. Aroma of tangerines, big malt and white grapes. Citrus hop flavours, with some passionfruit and building bitter pine. Finish was lingering resin, tinned fruit and candy sugar.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Beautiful deep orange colour, almost transparent, big white foamy head. Sweet tropical fruits and banana, pine and nice bitterness from the hops, soft grainy malts, caramel, boozy alcohol, little barnyard funk and brett-sour tones. Complex but very well balanced. Soft mouthfeel, (too) low carbonation, good body.

Close your eyes & imagine you're drinking a Belgium abbey ale - then check the bottle & remember that this is Mikkeller. The gypsy gent has out done himself this time - a truly world class brew.
Smooth mouthfeel with distinctive Belgium taste & not overly sweet. Complex taste with subtly bitter finish.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft to taster at Three Floyds. Looks good; a very slightly hazy darker orange with foamy head that’s very light caramel in color. Smells bittersweet and boozy with notes of toffee. Tastes like it smells, but more balanced, with a nice, smooth mouthfeel. Enjoyable, and one of the few that tastes smoother than it smells.

"tastes like different hops and yeast than the other "alive" brew I’ve had. Still lots of brett and funky goodness...meshes really well with the hops used in this one, but I miss the yeast. Nice frothy refreshing brew (especially at 8%) anyway."
