Bottle in CPH. Thanks to some Swiss friends (I think!) for busting this out. The pour’s rusty red. Loads of sediment and dandruff in the pour. Thenose is knackered toffee, cherry, chocolate, acidic red apple. The taste is more cherry, spicy apple pie filling, husky grain. Cinnamon spice. Medium body, moderate carbonation. Overall, definitely past its best. Still OK though.

Pours deep vinous ruby black, sml-med head. Smells ..cooked fruits, malts, caramel, liquorish and some vinous barrel. Tastes..Belgian ale dark fruity, sweet malts, burnt sugars, roasty, vinous and whiskey woody barrel.

Bottle @ home.... It pours murky light brown with a large creamy tan head.... The aroma is oak, dark fruits, sweet malt, vanilla and vinous notes.... The flavor is also vinous, bourbon, dark fruits, caramel, some spices and berries...with a nice warming alcohol finish....

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2013 Fra flaske på Mikkellertreffet på Cardinal mai-12: enormt fruktig og behagelig med passe karamellaktig bitterhet. Må nok prøves en annen gang hvis mulig. Og det ble det en hyggelig lørdagskveld på Cardinal: like god som jeg husket den, og med en ettersmak som varte helt til bybrua.

375 ml bottle. Cloudy brown with some big bubbled tan froth. Nose is caramel, brandy, raisin and apple. Medium body with a crisp bite finishing dry and a bit dull. Brief candy apple sweetness then brandy and wood. Ends bitter and leafy. Too much barrel.

A clear dark red/brown colored beer, with a large beige head. The aromared fruits like berries.A little caramel with wood, a little winery and alcohol. The taste of red fruits, berries, wood notes some malts, winery, madera with notes of alcohol. The aftertaste is sweet, has wood notes with bitter hints.

Bottle. Clear amber, beautiful off white head. Aroma of port and madeira. Very nice, complex flavor, full of malts, caramel, sweet red wine. More if a barley wine than an amber.

Dark copper, very nice body and tan coloured head. Barley wine like aroma with concentrated fruit, powerful madera and complex wild wood. Smooth low carbonation, not super thick and well developed. Flavourful and dangerously drinkable. (33cl bottle at MrHangover’s tasting)
