Cool surprise release. Never had the saison but i think i’d like it. refreshingly tart, lightly sour, brightly fruity and complex, yet easy drinking. Better than the spontan part of the blend. Good stuff, if a bit overpriced.

A soft pour into my New Belgium globe glass produces an initially two-finger thick, but then growing an additional two-fingers above the rim of my glass, pale tan colored head. The beer is pale amber / copper color that shows a lightly hazed, straw tinged, bright gold hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells tart, musty, quite hay like, with some cracker like pale grain character, a bit cider leaning, as well as some phenolic notes that lightly lean between a mix of medicinal and plastic notes. There is lots of woody oak character here in the nose as well, especially as the beer warms up.

The beer is quite light bodied, lightly tart, a little herbal, with a bit of bitterness and medicinal / plastic like character to it in the finish. The beer only has a light tartness to it (not like a Lambic), and this brings out a soft, cider like fruitiness, some touches of pear, and perhaps even some starfruit. There is a soft mustiness here, as well as an earthy grain character, both of which are accentuated by the phenolic character. Some peppery spiciness melds with the medicinal / plastic phenolics in the finish, and there also seems to be some woody oak character, as well as some toasted pale oak character and some oak like spiciness. As the beer warms up the oak character gets a bit more prominent.

An interesting beer that is pretty tasty, and definitely enjoyable. The oak and the phenolics are a bit too much to leave this beer perfectly balanced, but not to the level that this is not an enjoyable brew.

Pours hazy golden orange with a small white head. The aroma is fairly tart and has pale malt, light fruit, light smooth bugs, peaches and blue cheese. It has a medium body with tons of soft frothy carbonation. The flavor starts with fruitiness and saison earth, spice, cheesiness, lambic-esque sourness (kinda a light version and lemony). The finish has lots of citric sourness, funky tartness and lots of wild bugs. Really nice sour ale.

Pours a golden yellow with a short lasting white dense head. Aroma of barnyard funk. Was expecting great sourness but was pleasantly surprised by sweetness! Medium carbonation Not a full on sour but extremely refreshing, especially when drank cold in the summer heat!

750mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out some barnyard funk, grape must, and rustic notes. Flavour is like a watered down gueuze with slight sweetness, not as good as Spontanale. Quite rustic and yeasty - not so tart, but quite wild tasting. Nice stuff.
