Bottle. [thank you, Yespr]
Pours hazy dark amber with a thin rim of foam. Aroma is vinous, sherry, caramel, toffee, light oak. Almost completely flat, but pleasant oily palate. Sweet, malty flavour with caramel, toffee, lightly toasted and a great, slight note of milk chocolate. Good hoppy bite in the finish. Fine.

Bottle 500ml. [ Courtesy of fiulijn & yespr ]. Clear medium orange amber color with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, orange, mandarin, overripped fruit, alcohol. Flavor is heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, a peppery - alcohol warm finish. Body is medium, texture is oily and sticky, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [20100111]

50 cL bottle, courtesy of fiulijn - thanks a lot Alex! Pours clear and golden orange with no head. Aroma is solid hops fruity and caramelish dense malty. Sweet malty, caramelish dark roasted with a distinct peachy, grapefruity and mild citric hops flavour. Warming caramelish alcohol finish. Nice lasting hops fruity note along with this. Lovely.

The very last bottle of this unique masterdon from Mikkellers young days. Thanx alot for opening up your closet for these last bottles of goodies Mikkel. This one used to be very very hoppy to balance the huge sweetness - over the years most of the hoppiness has disapeared though. The nose has a lot of spices in it with a huge sweetness on top. The taste is sweet like crazy with a distant taste of alcohol...and it is a bastard that holds 15 % alcohol. The carbonation is very low and the palate is yhick and sticky - it has allmost turned in to an interesting dessert-wine topped with the taste of cloves and orange-peel. Thx Mikkel

500ml bottle shared courtesy of Ughsmash (another big thanks for taking yet another beer off my wish list). Bottle labeled best before 2050. Poured a deeper orangish color with almost no off white head. Hmmm, interesting. Aromas of fruitiness, caramel, dark fruits, and some citrus. Tastes of oranges, citrus, caramel, dark fruits and all around fruity. Syrupy and sweet body. Alcohol burn in the finish. The last sip reminded me of cough syrup. I had a harder time putting the aromas and tastes into words on this one. Wow, 500 IBUs...

500mL bottle. Poured medium golden with hints of copper and just a few loose bubbles of head around the edges. The aroma was very rich with molasses, treacle, and darker fruity sweetness leading the way.. drier, somewhat oxidized fruity hoppage.. syrupy overall. The flavor also had a rich syrupy sweetness with caramel, darker fruit (including raisins), and molasses.. bitterness was moderate-to-high, but far removed from what the label states.. you really feel the power toward the end. Thick and syrupy on the plate with no apparent carbonation.. the warmth really showed in the belly.. OK mouthfeel. This was an entirely interesting brew, and I’m glad for the opportunity to try it.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Bov (8158) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - OCT 1, 2007
courtesy of fiulijn; best before date: 2050 ! :-) - cloudy brown colour, absolutely no foam; tons of hops, apple, mint and pepper, caramel, alcohol, portwine; very sticky and oily, thick and heavy; very sweet intially; robust malt body, deeply bitter; incredibly long bitter malty finish with a warming alcohol kick - very complex, exhuberant and confusing
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Maria (9559) - Thisted, DENMARK - JUN 15, 2007
Thank you so much Mikkel for letting me get the opportunity to taste this one!! I enjoy it June 2007, but I could have waited until 2050, the bottle says - but I might not be around then LOL The color is beautiful red, dark amber and the aroma is fruity and hoppy with notes of caramel and raisin. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavour has a nice sweetness, notes of caramel, fruity hops, raisin, citrus and I don’t taste the alcohol at all. It’s very harmonic and at the same time it’s expression is delightful and powerful. A great one!! 2327
