16th May 2009 Copenhagen Beer Fest. Had a few by the time this came out on Saturday. Intense spicy apple nose. Rich malt and more intense spicy apple. Wasn’t capable of more depth by that but the beer was clearly unapologetically Calvedos!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - AUG 3, 2009
2009-05-16, draught at Københavnske Øldage 2009, 8-5-9-4-17=43 Hazy dark amber color; small creamy head. Nice creamy aroma, very strong: caramel, apples (how?), possibly vanilla. Strong body, caramel flavor with strong alcohol feeling, apples again. Extreme as usual from Mikkeller. I prefer Barley Wines like the Bad Worse, but very enjoyable anyway!
Handbottle, 20 days later, 7-4-9-4-17=41 Hazy brown color. I will say only that it has an excellent caramel flavor, woody, with warming alcohol.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 yngwie (10760) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JUL 8, 2009
On tap at Copenhagen Beerfestival. It’s an almost clear, orange-golden beer with a minimal sized off-white head. Calvados, or just generic apple-booze dominates the aroma, with some sweetness and alcohol notes. It’s sweet and full-bodied in the mouth, with a lovely alcohol heat, and flavors of apple booze, vanilla, rum raisin, sour apples, some caramel, and a lovely hoppyness in the background. Resiny, warm finish with lots of sweetness and a good bitterness. A lovely one, but I think the Calvados leaves too much flavor and aroma, overpowering the base beer. But lovely anyway. (090516)
