I also tried this per Mike. Thanks a bunch for sharing this! Jason, I think it was 36 / 40 and not 32, but I could be mistaken? Either way, the beer poured to a deep brown/black body with a thin dark tan head. The aroma was nice charred marshmallows, espresso, milk chocolate, and some peaty malts. This is 15%? Wow, did the alcohol get hidden in this beer! The flavor was rich but balanced chocolate, coffee (lighter component), charred marshmallows, sherry, port, and black strap molasses. I thought the mouthfeel was perfect. I didn’t think it was heavy and thick like others, however. It seemed more of a lightly carbonated silken felt/velvet texture with some oily and creamy things.

I can’t thank Mike enough for sharing this!!! Bottle #32 from what I remember. Poured very deep brown with almost no head.. thick and viscous. The aroma was to die for.. charred chocolate, molasses, and coffee paired with rich port and sherry accents.. warm on the back, but nowhere near what you’d expect at 15%.. moderate-to-high roast accompanied the sweetness perfectly. The flavor found coffee and cake-like baker’s chocolate at the core with molasses not too far behind.. spicy black pepper, tangy oak, and sherry around.. gave a not-so-subtle kick on the finish, but I wasn’t looking for subtlety here. Felt as heavy and thick on the palate as it looked.. carbonation was on the low end.. balance was spot-on, and thankfully the finish lingered for a long time. Just a beautiful beer!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
THANKS WALT!!! Pitch black with a small tight beige head and oily head. Big leather nose (maybe around Walt too long?) along with toffee, chocolate, peaty scotch, oak, espresso, cavendish pipe tobacco, and a hint of vanilla pods. HEAVY MALTS and expected oxidation with an port overtone, completely wonderful! Also noted was some raisin, fig, anise, pepper, peat and cashews. The mouth feel was very lush and oily, very warming and comforting. This rocks, F++K YEAH!!!!

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Generously shared by Walt at DLD. I’ve been privileged enough to have had this twice now, and I can say that it really blew me away this time around. Huge amounts of really tasty chocolate/caramel gooey goodness. Thick and delicious. Great finish, and the alcohol is very well hidden for 15%. Incredible improvement on the regular version of this beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big thanks to walt for sharing this rarity. Pours a dark black with a beige head. Malty roasted chocolate nose with sweet caramels and dried fruits with a slightly ashy note. Sweet malt chocolate flavors that are syruppy and sweet with oak and dark fruits. Finishes with lots of booze. They were definitely shooting for the moon here with this huge beer. I think they might have overshot it, but the results are still great to drink.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Big thanks to Walt for sharing. I think I kind of snuck in on this one. Poured pitch black. Inky and thick with no head. Aroma was sweet, brown sugar and raisins. Taste was the same, big and rich, wish I could have had my sample after a great meal. Would be a dessert by itself. I got cherry, some chocolate and burnt marshmellow as well. very port like, flavors melded well, sort of a sweet wall of flavor. I enjoyed this and definitely didn’t think I would every be trying it.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml bottle and big thanks to walt for the generous pour... thick and syrupy dark brown to black pour with cherry red edgees with little to no head... aroma had that greenness that i wasn’t too fond of in the regular mikkeller x. if it is a hop that is responsible for that, then i’m not too huge of a fan of it. traces of wood and chewy caramel malt and brown sugar can be found as well...caramel, cherry skin, molasses in the flavor. thick and full of woody oak. velvety and smooth, port-like and has a little strength behind it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle shared by Walt. This is a beer I certainly never expected to try! Nice! Sweetish licorice and molasses aroma, with a sweet, wet, crunchy cereal tail. Balance, pine and lots of wine-barrel aroma; rough boozy middle with a strong, cherry finish. Brutal, black and lovely, this is a beer I wish I could sit down with for a longer time. Unfortunately, given the rarity, I’m lucky enough to even have had this sample.
