4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Draught at Københavnske Øldage 2007. I LOVE THIS. Black - brown head. Chokolate-power. Dried dark fruits, plums, raisins, plums, brown sauce, syrup, soya, oily, used motor oil, light roasted, brown sugar, a bit portwine like, high very nice hoppy, and a lot more. A very big and smooth mouthfeeling. Could easily be too mush - but it works very well !!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Ølfestival 2007. On tap. Pours black with a small light brown, diminishing head. Extremely sweet and very bitter too. Heavy aromas of caramel, chocolate and toasted malts. Also lots of dates, toffe and sugar together with some wood. More than full flavored with an oily texture. Quite soft carbonation. A bit too much alcohol in the finish. And I think one should go easy on the brett-hand for the 2008 veersion IMHO.

4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Draught at Københavnske Øldage 2007.
Blacker than black. Appears extremely thick in the glass. Funny thing was that when I poured it into the glass it didn’t make a sound at all; it’s THAT thick!
The aromas are those of sweet liquorice, dark roasted coffee, muscovado sugar, some spicy/flowery notes and a hint of animal notes too from the brett. On the palate it is light and very fresh, and........ Ohh rubbish ;-) this is one of the most massive beers I’ve ever had. Very soft and supersweet but the sweetness is balanced perfectly by the hop bitterness, the acidity from the roasted malts and probably a bit by the brett too.
This is a fantastic beer! It has the potential to evolve into a perfect one just as the 06 version, but for that to happen it needs some extra time to let the brett evolve further.
It was a rare privilege to stand behind the bar and serve this beer to a massive gathering of beer geeks.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A Mes rate:
Draught at Ølfestival 2007. Oh... My... GOD!!! Stupendously good beer that seriously kicked my ass and many others at the festival... Mads? yes I’m talking to you... :p Looks are that of only slightly less viscous tar. It’s so thick and oily it lines the sides of the glass and takes an age to settle back down. It looks like you could pour it on ice cream. In fact I’m sure that would be wonderful. Aroma is just ridiculous. Alcohol is completely over the top but just so lovely I could sniff at it for days. Plummy dark chocolate and thick thick coffee seem to just fall over the sides of the glass. Flavour is again f**king fiercly alcoholic and nothing short of dreamy. It’s waaaaaay too much but drinkable at the same time. It’s like doing something really bad but loving every minute of it. All the way along there is that characteristic of amazing Mikkeller hoppyness that for all the over the top darkness, balances it out perfectly. Finish is stupidly long and heavy with dark chocolate and coffee, again having that punch of bitter hops. Heaven and hell in a glass, it’s like having your cake AND eating it. A huge behemoth of a beer.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Black as tar, coloures the sides of my glass and is topped with a thick and sticky brown foam on top. A boost of torrified coffee beans, the blackest of pure bitter chocolate, smooth candi (liquid Candico sirup) and super cassis sirup. Nice flowery accents untherbuild with dry and crispy hops. The taste is massive, yet well in ballans, the roasted touches are not overdone, and they work well with the sweet and the fruity components of the beer. The burned bitters and the hop-bitters and perfect in harmony. Least thing to say is that the burned notes are working so well with the fruityness, the sweetness and the complex vegetals hop-bitters. A rich, thick and massive beer signed Mikkeller.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught at Københavnske Øldage. Extremely black. Vinous licorice aroma. Sweet and tarry, dense mouthfeel. Thick and chewy, can I get knife and fork, please? Punishingly flavourful with thick licorice and notes of petroleum and lacquer. Potent and viscous. Just enormous.

2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
Tap. Pours a very dark brown with absolutely no head. Aroma is powerful. Vinious, sweet, roasted, toffee and coffee. Flavour is far too much, clingy and sweet with a far too present alcohol taste. Again, a poor rounded brew - extreme for extremeness alone.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Has a very dark brown look and a thick sirup texture, felt like i could dip my finger into it and eat it like wipped cream. Strong fruity sweetness in the aroma, thick honey adn dark dried fruits like prunes and plums. In the bitter part i relate to roasted coffee beans and toasted bread and oathmeal with a good chunck of pure dark chocolate. Flavor is indeed overwhelming, thick and creamy mouthfeel with all the previous mentioned aromas hitting again. It leaves a warming afterburn and a bittersweet feeling.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
