Draught at EBF 2008, Copenhagen. Aroma of oaky vanilla, chocolate and candy sugar. The calvados flavour is nicely layered over the strong coffee and roast malt of the imperial stout. Good stuff.

Draught at EBF 2008, Copenhagen, Denmark. Clear dark black color with a small virtually none head. Aroma is heavy malty, chocolate, cacao, vanilla, woody - oak notes. Flavor is heavy sweet and moderate to light heavy bitter with a long duration. Body is full, texture is syrupy, carbonation is flat, finish feel is moderate alcoholic. [130908]

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2009 Black with a small off-white head. Big aroma of roast malt, oak and vanilla, lots of spice and port notes in the background. Rich, spicy roast flavour going from brown sugar through licorice notes to burned malt. Oak is noticed, and there is a little apple in the aftertaste. Excellent balance. Looking forward to re-rate this at a more quiet occassion than the beer festival.

Re-rated June 2009. Rich, complex and rich like I said before, but also very sugary sweet. Had to cut a few points.

(On tap) Completely opaque black with absolutely no head. Sweetish burned malt in the aroma and some woody accents. Extremely full body, thick and syrupy - very, very sweet with an extremely alcoholic finish. More of a meal than a beer really! 130908

[on tap at EBF 2008] Delicious aroma of cognac, oak, apple, vanilla, fruity caramel toast, and lots more. Inky black and viscous with garnet edges and almost no ring. Extremely sweet molasses that is almost balanced with a spicy, burning ethanol and a good bitterness. Vanilla, oak, butterscotch, and coffee notes. Some cask bitterness. Smooth and chewy-full body, warm and spicy finish.

Draught@EBF 2008. Opaque black with brown edges. Creamy beige head. Rich and vinous aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, licorice, oak and vanilla. Big-bodied end extremely flavorful. Dark fruits and malts, bitter licorice, with a beautiful oaky accent. Spicy, peppery notes. Fine bitterness. Smooth, slick mouthfeel. Excellent.

On tap at EBF in Copenhagen 2008. Pours a pitch black with no head what so ever. The nose is like ports (calva) laquorice and alot of oakwood. Hardcore Sweet sweet sweet taste almost like a nice port with notes of apples and different spices. The tasts from the barrelaging is constantly present with a palate that are smooth like a redwine - alltogether a enormous flavour-spectrum

On tap at EBF 08. Served to me by Jeppe. It’s an incredible impy stout, with a kind of apple pie over the top. To start with I thought it was too sweet, but as the beer went down, it made more sense. Good intense choc aroma. Lovely apple + choc + espresso.

EBF2008. It’s a pitch black beer with a sweetish aroma of roasted malt, oak, vanilla and licorice. The flavour has sweetness and notes of roasted malt, ash, oak, vanilla, licorice, syrup, dark fruits and in the finish I get this dry chalky and ashy feeling, that is a minus in the overall impression.

50ml, draught. Deep red-brown body. Zesty to the nose with plenty of liquorice. The Flavour is packed with dark malts and solid hints of prunes followed by a touch of late apples. Spicy, calvados-like bitterness to the ending. The high alcohol strength is well under control. Perfect as a night cap on a Saturday eve at European Beer Festival (Copenhagen, 13.09.2008).
