Shared with Wim at his home. Brown colored beer with medium brownish head and no carbonation visible. Roasted malty fruity aroma with some alcoholic hints. Full sparkling palate. Finish is sweet fruity roasty.

Sample from a 37.5cl bottle at De Bierkoning. Black with a beige-brown head. Arom of ash, sweet chocolate, coffee, some Christmas spices. Flavour is very dry, ashy, liquorice, sweet chocolate, caramel, chili, sweet spices like cinnamon, hint of the cognac but only because I know it should be there, dry bitter ashy coffee finish. Medium-bodied. Good stuff.

375mL bottle, pours black with a large light brown head. Aroma brings out cognac and alcohol. Flavour brings out lots of cognac liqueur upfront, alcohol, and some residual astringency. Probably the best of the three 2012 barrel aged imperial porters but not very flattering still.

Thanks Bill. Pours to a black body with a really tall creamy and bubbly dark brown head. The aroma is rich and chocolatey with a subtle cognac. The flavor is rich roasty chocolate with a lot of cognac. There is a puckeringness to it. Medium full body.

Thanks to Bill for bringing this! Poured inky black with a sticky dark beige head. The aroma picked up tangy cognac and oak with smoked black malts and a touch of cocoa beneath. The flavor found burnt cocoa, black malts, and vinous notes at the core, with tangy cognac and dry oak and light herbal notes around.. finished dry and a touch boozy. Medium-bodied and a bit more tangy/sour on the palate than I hoped for.. scorched the back a bit.. aiight overall.

Barwa: ciemna, nieprzejrzysta, piana brązowa, drobnopęcherzykowa, obfita i długo utrzymujaca się. Aromat: głownie nuty beczki, w której było leżakowane, a więc alkohol (cognac), potem drewno i dopiero lekka czekolada. Smak: Niestety zbyt wytrawny, drewniany, wręcz ściągający, proszący się o słodką kontrę. Nuty czekoladowe wyraźnie w tle. Niestety spore rozczarowanie.

Scopey 5K Tasting in deepest Croydonia. Opaque dark brown beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and airy and semi dry. Light fine carbonation. Light touch of dark chocolate in the dark malt. Little tangy dark fruits and mellow cognac. Finishes semi dry. Comes together well.

Bottle Fra Kenny Til Scopey’s 5K Extravaganza of Oompah Band meets doorbell music, cheers the Earl of Essex - 15/02/14. Pitch black with a good sized tan covering that thins to pondwork. Nose is roast malt, dark chocolate, coconut, liqourice, hint of smoke, light booze. Taste comprises booze from the off and a little harsh at that, roast malt, liqourice, notes of cognac, booze tinged wood, molasses. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Despite the booze being a little warming to begin with, during my brief sojourn with this one it settled down a little and this ended up being my favourite of the 3, solid work.

UPDATED: FEB 17, 2014 Bottle thanks to Ken. It pours jet black with a thick tan head. The nose is mild acidity, toast, rich roast, coffee, dark chocolate and rocky road. The taste is rich roasted malt, toast, earth, tar, wood, vinous, cognac and decent bitterness with a dry, roasty finish. Fulsome body and oily mouth feel. Rich and bold, but ultimately a bit unrefined.
