gramity (1307) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 30, 2012
Pours almost black with a brown, 2 finger, thick head. Aroma has lots of roasted malts, christmas spices, chocolate, some sweet notes as well. Taste is heavily roasted with quite a lot of dry chocolate, fresh ground coffee and hops. Some sweet notes blend in with the other elements. Slight alcohol taste. After taste has a long and nice bitterness

Bottled, from Systembolaget. .Completely black, beige head. Tarry spruce aroma. Sweetish with full body and clean mouthfeel. Massive piney shampoo-like bitterness overkills everything in its way, leaving my tastebuds as sooty ruins. Some spice and caramel, but really - the super aggressive shampoo bitterness is just extreme.

750ml bottle. Pours jet black with a large, thick head. Aroma is salty, bitter coffee and chocolate, some dark berries and piney hops also. Taste has salty liquorice to start. Burnt bitter chocolate finish with a coffee aftertaste.

Bottle, shared with Parksy, Grippitis, and Ian. Very dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts, hints of dark fruits and spices. Chocolate centers the palate, but there are distinct woody elements, and some dark fruits here too (plums?cherries?...hard to pin down), but most surprising and pleasant is how the spiciness really comes forward. It is an odd spice character, but in a complementary way-- maybe fennel ? I can’t place it with certainty (the palate is a little worn out at this point in the evening), but I really like it. Mikkeller delivers once again!

draught@erzbierschof - black beer with a modest foam left; fairly roasted with notes of ashtray and licorice, chestnuts; full-bodied anmd slightly sticky, very bitter and hugely dry; long roasted and hoppy finish with more notes of ashes, nuts and spices - I love it !

Big roasty well balanced beer. Really enjoyed it. Very easy drinking for the abv. Chocolate, roasty, oakiness, lots going on and really tasty. Moderate finish.
