UPDATED: JAN 1, 2013 Wow. Don’t normally go ya wards porters and was one of my styles to try for 2013. Coffee and chocolate all smoothly wrapped up in a beer that doesn’t drink like a 8% beer.

Taste of huge dark chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, smoke, coffee, molasses, citrus, pine, and spiciness. Good amount of bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of big dark chocolate, caramel, smoke, and coffee on the finish for a bit. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a very creamy and lush mouth-feel. Alcohol is pretty much invisible, hardly any warming after the finish. Overall this is an interesting and tasty Baltic porter with huge robust flavor and easy drinking.

Keg, BrewDog Birmingham, 12/12/12. Abyssal with a fine Manilla collar. Waft of soy, ozone, fudge, carob on nose. Tastes like Yorkie dunked in black coffee, jerky, grilled beef and aubergine flamed to hell, Minstrels, medicine, blueberries. Lingers with chipotle, chocolate, smoke like a fine cigar. Easily the beer of Xmas so far and my 50th but FIRST EVER draught Mikkeller. Unbelievable.
