4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours thick, deep brown-black, good frothy tan head. Taste is really deep, bitter oats and malt, sweet and spicy, earthy but with a strong roasted dark coffee bittter background. Finishes moderate alcohol and bitterness. Really good.

750ml bottle (thanks FatPhil). Fuck that name! Ohh I got a beer let’s arrange words on label so that we get 6 "different" bee.. ticks. Fck up yer arse!
Beer itself is black color. Nice medium size, thick brown head, stays. Sweet, chocolate, roast, black pepper, bit milky in aroma. Nice roast, dark chocolate, grainy in taste. Dark chocolate and roast in aftertaste. Roasty bitterness, getting harsher later. Soft carbonation. Weird one. Love-hate type of brew.

750ml bottle (Alko Arkadia, Helsinki) as From Via Mikkeller To, batch 201121)
Pleasantly roasty aroma, soft and mellow. Deep black, nice tan head. Delicious roasty malts, good portery levels of roast, but shying away from insane danish stout. Spicing reduced to just a tiny bit of cinnamon. Finish extremely dry. Reduces the overall pleasantness. Quite a lot actually. Started quite high, but went down after a while.

Bottle, bb 30.08.2015, batch 201121 (shared by fatphil, thanks). Pours dark brown-black with dark brown head. The head stays for some time. Aroma is malt, roast, malt, coffee, malt. Flavor is sweet and bitter, malt, coffee, roast, some metallic notes at first, later some smoke. Carbonation is rather high. Finish is roast and coffee bitter. Overall: very good, but gets acidic in the end as it warms up.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Though retired, old notes.
This was poured into a snifter and shared with an old friend.
The appearance was a pure black color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute leaving some trickling soapy lacing roaming all around the glass.
The smell had some cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, cocoa, coconut, bitter coffee bean, light vanilla, and a sweet breadiness coming about.
The taste was sweet, roasty, bitter, and spicy through all of the previously mentioned flavors.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a decent sipper quality about it. The carbonation was somewhat there. A decent roasty smooth sweet humble spiciness rolls over my tongue.
Overall, I say this was a very complex beer - wow, there is so much going on that this one makes a mighty fine night cap on a cold winter’s night.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a deep black with a low tan-red head. Aroma is fantastic and works it’s way to your nose as soon as the cork is popped. Strong spice notes come through first with notes of fennel, coriander, anise followed by some chocolate and dark plum/prune notes and finishes with a light smokey, toasted malt presence. The flavor is extremely complex. Lots of Christmas spice - clove and anise come through strongest, with light citrus melting with plum/prune flavors to lend a light sweetness but keeping it farm from cloying. Malt bitterness works its way in late but adds a chocolate, red wine and toasted flavor. Body is slightly oily and has very, very low carbonation (not sure if this is from aging or not). Overall a fantastic beer. Flavors meld and transition perfectly.
