3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(375ml bottle). Pours pitch black with generous 2 finger chocolate head. Nice lacing. Aroma is spices, cocoa and light bourbon. Taste is sweet with loads of chocolate and a touch a vanilla. Medium bodied with an oily texture. A bit of a dry roasty finish. Not bad at all.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black pour. Huge, dark, tan head that lasts quite a while. Leaves plenty of lacing behind. Smells, chocolatey, peppery, hints of vanilla, and bourbon and wood notes. Taste is woody, chocolate, and alcohol. A little warm, but the sweetness mellows it out a bit. Not bad at all.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark brown beer with a beige head. The aroma is malt, coffee, alcohol, fruit and sweetness. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness with alcoholwarmth. Overall a good beer.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark pour, tan head. Roasty malts, sweet cocoa, bourbon and oak aroma. Flavor is toasty, a bit rough around the edges, bourbon, oak...ok but not the best from Mikkeller.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Flaska köpt i Khioskh.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle @ Vinens Verden, Odense. Pours black with a small creamy white head. Heavy bourbon, hard roast and chocolate. Smooth and oily. A bit too simple, young and the bourbon is not perfectly integrated. Still a decent effort for Mikkeller standards.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Huge, dark brown-beige head, over black-brown beer; shards of lace. Sweet chocolate and rumraisins’ nose, and then, increasingly, Bourbon on new oak, vanilla included. Dry, bitterish, very woody and alcoholic - Bourbon and vanilla in the finish. Quite little sweetness, however, and no real bitterness. Chocolate, raisins on alcohol returning, bit of overripe banana. Gradually, a dry bitter-ish ground coffeeflavour creeps in. Very rich, thick & creamy texture, obvious alcoholwarming. Long, complex, fusely aftertaste. Another great, complex and impressive Mikkeller, but again one that is anything but easily drinkable.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
12.7 oz bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma initially has a fair amount of cocoa present, which is a little sweet. There seems to be a little cardboardy oxidation in there as well. The aroma finishes with a little boubon fruitiness, too. An interesting aroma, but not as good as I would have hoped it to be with the boubon barrels. I really don’t get much in the way of spices. Moderately transparent dark brown body with a medium, fairly resilient tan head. Good lacing. Attractive. Starts a little sweet with lots of forward chocolate, and some roastiness that is reminiscent of coffee. This then turns into a bit of an astringent mess towards the end with what appears to be some light bugginess (pedio?) picked up from the bourbon barrels. Finishes with a chalky, dry texture. This really isn’t well-rounded or cohesive. At $1 an oz, I severely overpaid for this muddled experimental beer.
