It is enough to see this beer to understand that this is real stuff. The beer has a strong odor of chocolate, roasted malt and some smoke. This is a really tasty beer. First comes a distinct flavor of licorice, before the fine shades of dark berries, especially blackcurrant, take over. It is also significantly with spices, especially coriander. Sweetness is well balanced against a more dark roasted character, some coffee and well-integrated alcohol. This is admittedly a strong beer, and alcohol stings a bit in the end, but not more than that it is suitable for the Christmas meal. Mikkeller has made a strong, tasty and beautiful porter. It is perhaps not quite what we expect from a Christmas beer here , but it is a quite as good alternative. Recommended!

Black colour with a big dark tan head. Chocolate, cocoa beans, mildly roasted malt, sweetness and hoppy bitterness in a strong aroma. The flavour is roasted malt, dark chocolate, cocoa, mild vanilla sweetness, mild hoppy bitterness and mild spices. Quite nice. Surprisingly drinkable for a 8% porter.

Near black in colour, long lasting large tan head, excellent lacing. Aroma of is hoppy, roasted malt, caramel, light coffee. Flavour is quite malty, chocolate, some hops, light alcohol, moderate sweetness. Sweet and warming mouthfeel, medium body, high carbonation. Finishes hoppy, long and sweet. I like this, hoppy porters are good.

Flaska från SB. Svart vätska med kraftigt nästan brunsvart skum. Enorma mängder av kaffe och chokladarom. Fruktig och mjuk i smaken. Mer kakao och kaffe. Efter ett tag framträder röda syltiga bär. Kul lagringsemperiment från 2011.

Oh my, I have been anticipating this one for a long while. Last years was not that good so I’m happy to be able to step back a few years in time with this 2011 bottle. Here we go...
Pours black with a big dark brown head that rests down to a bubbly film. Aroma has citrus/herbal hops, roasted malt, old coffee, dark chocolate. Taste is as above but with some slight tart note. Thick mouth feel, full body, soft carbonation. After taste is short, dry and chocolatey bitter.
3 years old and held up very nice. Much more well composed/balanced compared to a fresh bottle but thats, of course, pretty much expected.
