Dense, off-white head with a decent stand. Hazy amber body colour. Nice lacing. Inviting aroma of pine-like hops. Sappy fruits like lemon and grapefruits in flavour balanced by malty sweetness drifting into a dry hop bitter finish. Well bodied (Tromsø, 25.05.2010).

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Pawola22 (3096) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - AUG 10, 2012
11.2oz bottle from Gomer’s Lees Summit, MO. Totally forgot I had all these. Pours a cloudy, amber-orange colored body with some particulate floating around. Finger-width, dense, frothy and foamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is sweeter caramel and toffee malts, candied oranges, a light toasted bread, fruity peaches, and a touch of spice. Flavor is big yeast spices up front before the big caramel and toffee malts come in. Some candied oranges in the middle, bread, and a light banana note. Finishes pretty bitter and spicy, but fairly fruity and malty sweet before leaving a lengthy aftertaste with some alcohol warmth. Medium-full body and a creamy, medium-high carbonation. Overall, not bad, but not my favorite. A bit too spicy and bitter while never completely coming together with the big malts. Looking forward to the other 4 though.

11.2 oz. bottle, pours a murky, opaque brownish orange with a medium beige head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, some candied sugar, syrup Flavour of Belgian yeast, slight spicy, and also sweet, with candied sugar and syrup sweet undertones. Quite malty and sweeter than the other beers in this series, but also with a medium-high hop astringency on the finish. Decent.

Sampled on 5/5/2012. This “Belgian Ale” pours a slightly cloudy orange gold color from a 330ml bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, caramel and yeasty. Medium bodied “Belgian Ale”. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. Decent carbonation. It’s a little sweet and the yeast seems much more pronounced. Still more of an IPA than anything else. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 fiulijn (12179) - Malmö, DENMARK - FEB 19, 2012
Bottle; parallel tasting with the US Ale Yeast version Hazy amber color; generous head. Nice aroma, sugary caramel, the hops are both fruity and resiny, but there is also the spicy touch typical of a Belgian Ale; it reminds me some other attempt to brew a Belgian IPA. Well structured, the caramel flavor is still quite sweet; the resiny and partially fruity hops are clearly joined by a yeast spiciness. Good bitterness level, with a shady final astringency; I still find that sometimes American hops and Belgian yeast can clash a bit,and this can be true in the very end of this glass. More aggressive than the other version, but it also offers a more interesting set of components.
