Birra molto particolare. Ottima.

Richmond 20th. Aroma is finally something different from the rest of the yeast series. Very fruity, and a bit funky. Flavor is funky, and quite a bit fruity. Quite nice.

Bottle @ RG 20. Hazy caramel with cream head and a few particles. Smells sweet tart. Tastes sweet with a hint of tart.

Sampled at the Richmond Gathering 20th! pours a clear copper amber with good tan head. Looks identical amongst all beers. Doughy and caramel and hoppy as hell on the aroma and flavor. It is VERY difficult to discern any noticeable difference. This one is the fruitiest, and spiked funk that shines. You can pick this one out of the lineup. But the others are just too similar.

From the bottle poured a cloudy brownish brew with a white head. Funky malty aroma. Sour, funky, flavor. Medium bodied and nasty.

Bottle shared by Butters at the 20th Richmond Gathering. Pours a hazy amber color with a large foamy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of stone fruits, funk, caramel, citrus hops. The taste is bright citrus, earth, caramel. Medium bodied. Nice.

Bottle and served in my ratebeer tulip: Poured a clean amber hue with a very nice head and very nice lace. The aroma has notes of chessy mold, horsey funk but shocked by how much of the tropical fruit esters are still around from the hops. The taste is unique with the acidic and tropical fruit notes, well done biscuit and caramel malt balancing act with the emerging yeast character. The funk is still very much in check and perhaps always will be. The balance is shocking drinkable. I am digging this wayyyyyyyyyyyy more than I would have thought. I for one am glad this did not turn into a overwhelming funk fest.

Bottle shared by esp0r july 28th 2012, thanks man! Dark hazy amber, brown head. Lively carbonated. Aroma of brett, lemon, some malt. Taste is not very sour, it’s got the spicy brett notes, with citrus, pineapple, and a pretty sweet finish.

11.2oz bottle from Gomer’s Lees Summit, MO. Totally forgot I had all these. Pours a cloudy, glowing orange-amber colored body with a finger-width, dense and creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is really nice. Lots of funky brett with some dusty barnyard aspects to the yeast. Some floral notes, light oranges, slightly acidic tart fruits, a bit of a bready malt backing, apples, and a touch of caramel sweetness. Flavor is a let down after the nice aroma. Lots of funky brett, but very bitter with lots of phenols. Still has some tart fruits with touches of florals as well as a lightly sweetened malt backing, but it just isn’t working for me like I hoped. Finishes bone dry and very bitter with some astringency, lots of dusty funk, and some tart fruits. Lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and a lively carbonation. Overall, I was hoping the age would have done this beer well, but I just didn’t like the excessive bitterness and weird malt taste. It wasn’t bad and was probably my favorite in the series, but I really didn’t like the series too much. Oh well.

Bottle from Ølkonsortiet Aalborg shared with daje
Pours dark copper with a frothy beige head. Smells powerfully of brett, the typical funky barnyard things and some tarte fruits. Then the taste; it’s medium sweet, hints of some acids or tartness and then the sweetness again. Brett without the lactobactilus support works quite well. The beer has dried up somehow, but i guess this will be dryer if stored right for a while. The finish is also quite hoppy and bitter. Would be fun to try the whole series - but glad i at least found the brett version. For me this was more of a learning prossess about what brett really is about than enjoying a very good beer - but as a geek sometimes business have to come before pleasure. Hope to find more brett beers without the sour aspects in the future
