Bottle and served in my Ayinger lil’ weizen glass: Pours a deep cloudy hue with a long lasting frothy head and spotty lace. The aroma has notes of banana, clove, wheat husks, bread, grassy and herbal hops with a hint of passionfruit. The taste is a bit bitter but mostly malt and yeast driven. Plenty of wheat notes and clove like spice along with some fruit. The mouth feel is baggy and a tad metallic with a moderately dry finish. I would have like to try the finisher but alas I rate what I got.

Aroma is citrus, bready malts and a hint of graininess. The flavor is citrus, biscuit/sweetish malts, tropical fruit and an oily/resiny finish.

12oz bottle. Suspicious age. Thick yeasty orange-brown, way too dark for a straightforward Hefe. A mineral burnt amber malt pervades this on, really off. Boozy, rich, mineral. Odd and not that enjoyable.

Leicht alkoholischer Antrunk mit dunklem, wenig röstigem Antrunk. Wenig herb, bananiger. Vollmundiger Nachgeschmack, die Alkoholnote bleibt. Malziger Ausklang. 8/9/8/8/6/8

Sampled at the Richmond Gathering 20th! pours a clear copper amber with good tan head. Looks identical amongst all beers. Doughy and caramel and hoppy as hell on the aroma and flavor. It is VERY difficult to discern any noticeable difference. This one is slightly drier than the belgian, but not getting the fruity or banana notes that I expected. The massive hopping pushes this into the DIPA category and i think the style masks any effects of the different yeasts.

Bottle @ RG 20. Caramel with particles and cream head. Smells caramelly and fruity. Tastes a little sweet and then bitter. Dry.

Richmond 20th, second one in the yeast series. Aroma is doughy. Maybe a touch fruitier than the first one. Flavor is basically the same as the first one. Maybe a touch drier. But overall, the hops are taking over this one.

Bottle shared by Butters at the 20th Richmond Gathering. Pours a hazy amber color with a large foamy off-white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel malts, citrus hops, mild banana. The taste is caramel malts, citrus hops, bubblegum. Medium bodied, fairly dry.

From the bottle poured a cloudy, brownish brew with a white head. Floral aromas of hops and malt, Full bodied, sweet, malty, and alcoholy.

Bottle from State Line Liqours - catching up on old ratings from Oct/Nov 2012 timeframe. One of the more successfully entries from this series, though the juxtaposition of an IPA with the hefe yeast is a bit odd.
