3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Jessop (178) - AUSTRALIA - MAR 10, 2013
Excellent example of a pilsner. An aromatic bouquet, floral grassy precedes a beer with a smooth mouthfeel. Malts balance well with the hops and it finishes with a bitterness that is slightly harsh.

Pours a clear golden color with a nice white head that fades to some lacing. Clean aroma of some citrus, malt sweetness and fresh grain. Taste of mild citrus with some malt sweetness and fresh grain. Light bitterness and a clean finish. Light body, crisp, smooth and refreshing, with a decent balance. A pleasant beer to enjoy and a summer day.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 davidm (1777) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - FEB 2, 2012
Bottle 330ml from Dan Murphy’s. Not too bad. Aromas of citrus and hay. Taste is sweet, with light bitterness, and average length. Palate is oily, with a thin-to-medium body. Yellow, with a thin head.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Stew41 (1572) - Woodend, AUSTRALIA - JAN 27, 2012
Strangely alluring. Weird (ish) nose of tingly freshly cut river stone and talcum powder (think riesling). Flavours are clearly pilsner but there’s a spin on typical with more zingy minerals and stone. Finish shows some bitter aniseed. I thought this was really good and for mine clearly the leading beer of the house.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Davros (1484) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 25, 2012
Pours gold with a large, quickly fading head.
Nose shows grassy and floral hops, with bready, grainy malt underneath.
Very similar flavours, grassy hops, sweet bready and grainy malt.
Body seem watery.
Easy drinking stuff.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 ALLOVATE (2107) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - DEC 19, 2011
UPDATED: JAN 3, 2012 Re-rate: Sample, very fresh, tried mid last year so rating from notes. Mad pour, lots of pent up fury pushes up a mushroom cloud of white to sit out the lip by a good inch. The head lasts and laces well atop its sunny gold body that is bright as bright. Nice, clean hop and toasted, gritty grain nose with hints of lemon zest, grass and earthy herbs. Soft and delicate mouthfeel. Lots of flavour, a nice bitter edge on the swallow, grassy and herbal with a whack of peppery spice. Balancing depth of grain, straw and cereal-like, quite dry overall, ending crisp and excitedly clean. A little mint peeks through as the glass empties. This is a lovely Pilsner. Given how it doesn’t fair too well with a few months in the bottle it needs to be brewery fresh. Good stuff, I knew I had rated it earlier!!! (33cL, BB 12/01/12, Dan Murphy’s, Balcatta) Needs a good rousing to get some life into the pour. Loose, limpid, shortlived white suds atop a wispily hazy (chill haze?) medium gold body with a fine bead. There is a little lemon zest under the layers of grassy noble hops and gritty toasted grains, very clean, spicy. Doughy, sweet, biscuity start with hints of pale honey. A little lemon grass runs the sides giving it a mildly tangy edge. Hops are dusty, the finish only moderately bitter, dry, crisp. Mild buttery notes plague the palate. Just doesn’t seem fresh. I had this months ago and thought it was a fantastic Pilsner. One for a re-rate! (33cL, BB 03/03/12, Dan Murphy’s Currambine) 6-2-5-2-11
