Rich and full bodied, this dark ale is brewed exclusively with UK-grown malt and hops and exhibits a luscious malty-sweetness and warming alcohol presence.
Big toffee and liquorice notes on both the nose and front palate give way to a gentle spiciness, refreshing fruit tartness and a drying bitterness that gives this bold winter warmer a surprising drinkability.
Winter Warmers are traditionally malty-sweet English Strong Ales that are brewed in the winter months. Although they are generally dark beers, they are not usually as dark as Stout and have a big malt presence and relatively high alcohol contents.
Sometimes, particularly in the United States, Winter Warmers can be spiced. However, in keeping with the English-style, Winter Sun is not spiced although it does show some spice and herbal character that come from the English-grown Admiral hops, used both for bittering and dry-hopping the beer.
