Cask conditioned at The Lower Red Lion, St Albans, Herts. Dark brown beer with no head. Shar, slightly off smell of cereal, with a tarry inky feel. Sweet and sour in the mouth with a serious malty bitterness. Far too challenging on a long day. Wasn’t sure about this.

Gravity cask at the Bree Louise. Ruby-gold pour with a light film. Good hops, some toasty biscuit. Mild caramel flavor, light earth. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Mild sticky finish, some sugars. Good balance, though with a slight medicinal note. Pretty good stuff overall.

Half, gravicask at Bree Louise. Deep, amber coloured body. No head. Aroma of semi sweet malts. Dusty hops and sweet, grainy malts in a fine balanced flavour. Rounded bitterness to the ending. Pleasant (London, 20.03.2011).

Cask@The Pembury Tavern, Hackney. Eggy and sulfuric character. Grainy, dry wholemeal bread character. Finish is quite dry. Mouthfeel is a bit thin, and the flavour is short.

hughie (3994) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 2, 2006
Cask at the Wellington Arms, Bedford. Dark amber. Sweet aroma that at first resembled honey. Earthy, grainy taste with some background sourness. A bit oily. Late bitterness. Wasn’t keen on this.

DanielBrown (3175) - Birmingham (via Leicester), West Midlands, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2006
Hand pulled at the Wellington, Birmingham. Very dark, but not opaque. Some red shafts reflect the fact that this is a rye beer. Nicely balanced, sweet cereal flavour. Caramel. Some metal but gentle. A little stoutiness too. Interesting and quite tasty.
