COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask and bottle: Regular.
Dark, mysterious and full of flavour. This stout has been produced using an authentic Irish recipe from the heart of Southern Ireland. A roast and malt aroma, black in colour. A pleasing mix of roast and malt flavours with some caramel and hop, giving a moderately bitter finish.

Cask gravity at Bedford BF ’09. Very dark brown. Faint ashy malt aroma. Sour ashy taste with some bitterness. A bit grim; needs to lighten up. And the beer took my advice, for a few minutes later it had developed a pleasant treacly sweetness in the nose, though the taste remained bleak.

Cask (handpump) @ Bankers Draft, Sheffield, England.
Clear dark red brown color with a average, fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark roasted, light burnt, light coffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy caramel & choclate sweet and coffee & mocca bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090720]

Cask at the Hand & Heart, Nottingham. This black beer is by far the best in Milestone’s portfolio. Rich and roasty with a touch of sourness and a sustained bitter finish, it’s a textbook stout and would make a good session beer too.

Cask @ Stamps Wine Bar/BistroCrosby. Virtually black with a thick creamy head. Roasted barley, coffee and chocolate notes dominate, with some bitterness tempered by a background sweetness. An excellent example of its type with a relatively low abv. Recommended. Guinness eat your heart out.

Half pint, hand-pulled cask at The Pembury Tavern in Hackney. Off-white bubbles at the rim of the glass. The body is black like coal. Dark malty aroma with some kind of tartness to it. Flavoured with black coffee malt and the sweetness of chocolate. Bitter fruits in the finish. A pleasant stout for its low alcohol strength (12.08.2008).

Cask conditioned - handpump - Wig & Pen Northampton. A deep black coloured beer with a wisp of whitish head. The aroma has smoky, roasted malts. The flavour is fruity and nicely burnt. A very good beer which no longer mentions the word stout on the label as per the picture to the left. I considered it to be a roasty very decent mild.

Cask at Kingston BF, 28th June 2008, with renffisch. Near black with a line of cream head. The nose has vinous notes and dark malt too. In the mouth, you get rich, bitter roasted malt and charcoal. The finish is smooth and this is not a bad stout.
