Dark red colour... Sweet, rather bland flavour. Not a lot going on, but it is different. Wood drink again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask@moonunderwater, wolverhampton. Dark brown beer medium head with good lacing. Aroma is a little sweet and roasted. Taste is dry and sweet coffee hops, a little strange. Slightly carbonated. Ok.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pint at the Nag’s Head in Reading. Black with a fair bubbly head. Porter with a sweet streak, but subtle. Aroma is a confused mixture of what it says on the tin. An interesting idea, but the execution is questionable.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask-conditioned at the Gryphon, Bristol 16/10/2012. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Roasted malts and plain chocolate aroma. Flavour had some coffee, a suggestion of floral, honeyed sweetness and dryish finish. Good.

UPDATED: APR 13, 2013 Cask conditioned handpump Rowell Charter Rothwell 01/10/12. A near black coloured beer with a grey head and lace. A dry and smoky aroma. Dry roasty coffee flavours. No sign of honey sweetness, but that’s alright by me. A short finish but it’s good enough. Score 3.5
