1.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
500ml Bottle conditioned: best before 28 Sep 2012, poured carefully into a UK pint sleeve on 29 Aug 2012. This bottle was part of a gift pack given to me last Christmas (2011).
Good loooking amber/copper coloured body: slight haze to it but still impressive with its foam layer of tight biege bubbles on top.
The nose was of malts initially, then a stale almost vinegary aroma came from the brew: the beer was clearly ’on the turn’ because it also had a vinegar/off feel to the taste.
I hope it wasn’t my fault it was skunked: I’ve looked after it since Christmas and looked after well I might add.
I had to have some strong Cheddar and salted biscuits to help me finish this beer: not a good sign. This is the second beer from the pack that needed cheese to overcome the sourness and as I said in the ’Donner and Blitzed’ write-up: the scores could have been doubled if this was supposed to be a Belgian Sour beer.

Cask handpull, The Crown, Nuneaton, 12/02/13. "Vixon" according to the handwritten pumpclip. Yellow gold without a head. Grass, herb, marzipan aroma. Hints of pith, grass, herb, honeyed pastry. Dull but sweet after a week off the beer.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton 04/12/12. A golden beer with a little white head. On the sweet side with creamy fusty notes. Low hopped and safe hopped. Ordinary. Milestone struggle with beers which aren’t dark for some reason.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask, The Devonshire Cat, Sheffield. Medium gold, slightly off aroma of metal and clove. Tastes of more metal and syrupy clove with a bitter finish. Not for me.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask - The Bree Louise, Euston, London. Poured with a small & creamy beige head leaving good lacework atop a clear copper-amber body. Toasty malt aromas, some caramel & boiled-esque malts. Nutty & toasty on the palate with some grassy hop bitterness. Short length to the finish, light to medium body and a fair, lightly carbonated palate texture.

Bottle. Cloudy and lively upon pouring. Sulphuric with a rough bitterness. Yet another bottle conditioned ale that fails to impress.
