CharlesDarwin (1823), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Apr 15, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a rather dark hazy amber-orange, with a thin slick in white.
Generic cascade aroma, quiet. Flavor is a bit ugly. Really sweet and
riddled with old hop, wet dog, buttery, cheesy isovaleric character.
Ugh. I’m not sure I’ll be able to handle this whole pint.
Tongue-smacking bitterness is rough and chewy. Some high estery fruit
coming of the yeast alcohols on the back end. This is tough. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Dec 11, 2008 Taster - Mill Creek Brew Pub - Walla Walla, WA - A lackluster batch of IPA. The beer was slightily light struck with a small infection. This was not the best from this area. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA Oct 22, 2008 From a growler fill and a very new batch. Pours full-on amber witha small head and few lacings. Aroma is fruity hops with some caramel. Taste is fruity citrus-orange hops with enough sweet malt to give good support. Pretty close to an English IPA even has low carbonation. Nice bitter finish. Don’t expect a West Coast US IPA and you won’t be dissapointed. Very nice beer. Sham (1846), Seattle, Washington, USA May 2, 2006 Dark bronze with a light head and lace. Vegetable aromas with a small floral quality. A small malt backing. Caramel malts with herbal hops in the flavor. Sweet and candy like. Syrupy and a little too sweet.
Oakes (8057), gone rambling, Vietnam May 9, 2005 Bright golden-copper. The aroma is earthy, lightly grapefruity. Palate is spicy, lightly citrusy with hints of brown sugar. Not a bad beer at all, just don’t expect an IPA. BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA May 9, 2005 Sampled draught at the Mill Creek Brewpub in Walla Walla, WA Clear bronze color, little head, little lacing. Nose of resionous hops, earthy columbus types with a hint of citrusy alpha acids. The flavor is more sweet but has a touch of bitterness in the finish. A bit too sweet but decent. baobubba (446), Corvallis, Oregon, USA Sep 16, 2003 Golden with a fine white head. Floral hopp aroma with accents of caramel and light toast. Slight vinous and earthiness. Sweet with a medium body and a moderate bitter finish. A well made IPA but light compared to other west coast varieties. Similar to Sweetwater's IPA, not quite as complex though. Very enjoyable. KingPinHead (390), Des Moines, Washington, USA Nov 14, 2002 Aroma is a light, attractive combo of caramel, light yeastiness and hoppy tang...Color is a hazy apricot with a medium head and nice sheet lace---has an unfiltered look to it...Flavor is a good blend of caramelly malts and well-rounded hops that offer good bitterness and subtle floral tones...The finish is medium-dry but with a combination of flavors that seems lightly smoky to me---most curious but enjoyable...Overall, this is a mellow yet flavorful English-style IPA with a unique twist...well worth a taste...
