Cask at Smithfield Hotel, Manchester. A hazy brown beer with a brown head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, and some roasted malt. The flavor has notes of both sweet and roasted malt as well as bread and caramel.

Clear medium amber orange color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dusty, keller, moderate hoppy, orange. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090124]

I know the beer well, and it doesnt sound like the cask found at the smithfield hotel, possibly some confussion there. This is a classic dark old ale, full of flavour and aroma. Found it in both the Edwardstone White Horse and the kings head in BIldestone, and other local pubs and beerfestivals. Brewed in an eco brewery. Which beer magazine labels the greenest in the world. A fine beer which is certainly a scorer for me!

A Mes rate. Cask at the Smithfield Hotel. Clean dark gold with a thin white head and very good condition. Fruity malt with some faint amyl nitrate notes. Middle of the road wheaty bitter but nice and drinkable. A decent enough scoop, just not a big scorer.
