COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a Northern French style of farmhouse ale traditionally made in the winter months and then laid-down in a cellar (thus the "Bière de Garde" appellation) for drinking throughout the year. Ours is a traditional amber beauty presented unfiltred with the yeast still in it to add to the slightly fruity/spicy aroma and creaminess of palate. Brewed with a blend of North American and European malt and hops, Ambre de la Chaudiere is a true reflection of our Canadian immigrant culture. Named after the famous Chaudière Falls beside our Brewery, this beer pays homage to a time gone by when honest craftmanship and simplicity were truly valued. Sante!

Bouteille 355ml.

From bottle. Pours a murky amber color, soft head on top. Sweet malty aroma some breadyness. Flavor is initially sweet before leading to light hops and sold malt backbone. A little to carbonated for a style that should rely on natural carbonation from the yeast. Nice easy introduction to the style.

Definitely one of the best Mill St. offerings I’ve had to date. Pours a murky amber with thick pieces of sediment. Smells boozy and dank, with wild yeast. A good example of style. Tastes a little bit soft on tongue, a bit like their Belgian wit but much better. Bottle from lcbo.

Growler shared with czar and friends. Foggy orange amber with short lasting white head. Smell is cereals and vegetables. Taste is fruity, yeast, veggies, caramel, mineral/spicy, brown sugar. Very complex profile. Some tartness in the finish, slight citrusy bitterness. Medium bodied, good carbonation, adds to the somewhat spicy character of this ale.

On tap. Pours hazy amber, with a decent sized creamy head. The aroma is of lemon zest, malt and caramel. The taste is semi sweet malt with a hoppy, spiced finish. Medium-bodied, clean finish. This was good but I feel like it would gain some complexity after some aging.

355ml bottle pours a golden orange color with a vigorously poured finger of white head that leaves a thin ring around the surface but no lacing. Aroma is caramel and light fruits with hints of yeast. Taste is malty and fruity sweetness with a spicy hop bitterness in the finish with some yeast in the finish. A decent representation of the style, but not as good as the Biere de Gardes from France.

Hazy amber with a thin lacy white creamy lasting lingering head. Smells of herbs, cloves, with a light citrus orange, malt, and caramel.Medium biscuit grainy chewy body. Tastes of caramel, malt, with an herbal, grassy hoppy element. I like the fruity element and a nice wheat banana. I would love to try it aged. In mouth, a smooth caramel malt with nice spiced qualities, curacao, a bit of cloves, very nice

On tap at Ottawa brew pub. I REALLY like this. Great barnyard and ripe apricot aroma spew from a cloudy charred orange colour. Slick toffee and citrus malt. Could get buzzed on a lot more of this. Easily the best mill street beer I've had/seen to date.
