3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 13, 2009 On tap at Volo. Pours a bunch of white foam on medium yellow,The aroma is grapefruit rind indication of hops, geuzy, and malt. The taste, with medium plus mouthfeel, is complex geuzy with malt and yeast. Satisfies and drinkable. A pint seemed like not enough.

The clearest tripel I have ever had. The beer pours a translucent honey gold colour with a creamy long lasting white head. Aroma is belgian yeast, spices, and light citrus fruits. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is yeast, grains, slightly sweet, and a little alcohol. A very nice Ontarion take on a classic Belgian style.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from the depths of my stash - originally purchased at the LCBO a couple of years ago, I believe, and then lost in the shuffle. Pours a really nice bright & clear golden orange with a finger or so pf snow white foam. Aroma is sweet and fruity - peach & orange especially - with a bit of bubblegum and something that reminds me vaguely of candy corn. Flavour is also quite sweet, with orange blossom honey being a dominant characteristic, along with a more definite note of the candy corn suggested by the aroma. Dries out a bit toward the end, where some spice notes (nutmeg, clove, pepper) join with a noticeable booziness in the warm finish. Certainly not the best tripel I’ve ever tried, but still pretty decent, especially given the age of the bottle.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
355ml bottle pours a pale golden color with a finger of white head that settles quite quickly for the style and leaves some thin spotty lacing. Aroma is bready grains with some light fruits, yeast and mild spices. Taste is grainy malt with some light fruits and hints of yeast and light hop bitterness. A decent Belgian style strong ale, but not in the same league as the real Belgian ales, although still quite drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle that I’ve somehow been holding on to for two years. Pours a deep gold with a thin white head. The aroma has a sort of sweet creamy character. A touch of wheaty spice along with a bit of light spice as well. A touch of soft fruit and some light fruit. There’s a bit of orange and a touch of light sweetness. A touch of honey as well as the light spice. It’s pretty nice actually.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
355ml bottle. Pours golden yellow with a white head. Strong aroma of malt, some fruits, alcohol. Flavour is sweet, with some fruit and metallic notes. Fairly dry, and floral with quite a bit of bitterness. lacks any sort of complexity and balance. Bought a Mill St. taster pack for this and was utterly disappointed. At least I got the Tankhouse... I was really hoping Ontario would produce a good belgian...Will have to keep on waiting.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Single bottle from a variety 6-pack purchased at a Co-op Wine & Spirits in Calgary, AB in May 2011. Colour: Dark yellow with grey tinges and low head. Nose: A basket of candy corn, late summer flower, bubble gum and banana. On the sweet side. Taste: Medium sweet, medium sour, medium-light bitter. Some soy sauce, raw yeast, very fertile malt. Finish has traces of dark rum. Certainly doesn’t taste like 9.1%.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle LCBO. Clear yellow beer. Spicy and fruity aroma of nutmeg, corriander, garam masala, white pepper corns, pear, and banana bread. Taste is richly round much the same and alcoholic. Unconventional Abbey, but very doable.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
I was quite please to find this Mill Street Seasonal Sampler 6-pack at the LCBO. I had pretty much tried all samples in this pack, except for this Belgian style Tripel. Pours a slight hazy golden colour that looks like honey. The head is nice and long-lasting, white, creamy and beautiful lacing is left. Nice soft nose of Belgian yeast, grain malt, vanilla and even mild perfume that some women wear (the one that is the closest to vanilla). Watery mouthfeel with a little stickiness and no burn whatsoever. Again, grain malt in the taste, Belgian yeast and nice spices. Not a crazy Tripel, but an easy-drinking one, just like most Mill Street beers... goes down well.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
355ml bottle. Pours golden-yellow. Aroma is weak; yeast, spices, a little fruit. I get a little bit of the pear in the taste as advertised, along with clove, bubblegum. A little syrupy sweet for me. Nowhere near as good as a real belgian, but decent nonetheless.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
