We produce a traditional styled Irish Stout that is served using beer gas to produce that familiar creamy pour. Our black stout has a roasted malt flavour and a hint of toasted walnuts and choclate in the finish. Select imported hops are used to dry out the finish of this ale.

Nitro pour at Original Joe’s Varsity Row. Deep brownish black pour, thick creamy tan head. Chocolatey nose with coffee and roast. Taste is chocolate malt up front, roasty middle, mild coffee end. Smooth nitro body. Enjoyable, has the typical things I’m looking for in a dry stout.

Tap at the Brewpub. Black with a creamy nitro head. Excellent retention and rather thick lace. The nose is expectedly roasty with a bit of a tarry note, and slightly smoky. Very enjoyable roasted malts in the flavour. Dryish and very light on the palate, ashy, roasty dry. Absolutely no carbonation. Among the better Mill St. brews I’ve had.

Pours a dark brown with a thin off-white head. Aroma is roast, chocolate, and nut. Flavor is roast and bitter chocolate. Has a light body with a smooth creamy mouthfeel. This is delicious - a brewery I tried on a whim that I have so far really enjoyed.

Tastes kind of like Guinness. Draft pour at Mill Street brewery in Toronto, part of a flight. Black with foamy head. Not bad. Nothing to write home about

Draught @ the brewpub in Ottawa. Pours hazy very dark brown with small light tan head. Clear aroma of roast and malt, with notes of caramel and coffee and some hoppy hints. Mild, bitterish flavour with notes of roast, malt, oats and coffee. Estery aftertaste. Low carbonation. Very easily drinkable and quite enjoyable. Decent.

44cl can via IP trade, thanks to Asheft - Alex.

Pour is dark-brown colour with a thick creamy head. Aroma is chocolate and creamy with toasted nuts. Flavour is similar, also malty and a bit of vanilla. Light body and low carbonation. Smooth.

The beer is pitch black with large creamy mocha head. Nose is all about coffee: roasted coffee beens, coffee in a cup... I did not follow the rule stated on the can that I must serve this beer cold. Mine was at ambient temperature and I am glad I had it that way! Mouthfeel is warm and overwhelming as the liquid goes down the throat. Cons: this beer suffers from a lack of body (of course it’s a 4,2% ABV beer, I know) and texture is a bit too watery to my palate. Flavours of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee are quite complex (for a low level alcohol beer) and last long in the mouth. Usually not my type, this beer still a very nice and enjoyable stout!

(Rating #6176)

15 ounce nitro can into imperial pint glass, canned on 6/13/2014. Pours clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and creamy tan head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, brown sugar, dark bread, light nuttiness, light herbal, and roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance of roast/bready malt and light earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, brown sugar, dark bread, light nuttiness, herbal, light char, and roasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light nuttiness, light char, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and robustness of roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and slightly slick/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a really excellent dry stout style. All around great balance and robustness of roast/bready malt and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
