Our porter is rich and robust, dark brown in colour with a dark roasted coffee nose, imparting an intense coffee flavour with notes of chocolate. Made with beans supplied by the Distillery District’s Balzac’s Coffee, this porter offers a rich, full and unique flavour. Currently, there are no other coffee-flavoured beers in the Ontario market.

Bottle from the brewpub in Ottawa. Pours hazy very dark brown with creamy, stable light tan head. Clear aroma of roast and malt, with estery notes and touches of coffee. Roasty flavour with notes of coffee and malt and touches of oats and hops. Subtle hints of metal. Estery and slightly coffelike and lactic aftertaste. Decent.

341 ml bottle. Pours an opaque, dark brown, almost black with a large, short lived, light brown head that laces. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate and coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and liquorice with a bitter coffee finish. Medium body with a watery texture and soft carbonation.

On tap at Smith. Pours near black with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of sweet dark grains and coffee with a hint of roasted malts. Flavor starts with coffee and roasted malts but finish is mainly sweet dark grains.

ENG: 341ml bottle from Liquor Mart Winnipeg. Poured into the tulip. Almost pitch black in color, with little red highlights, medium dark-beige head. Aromas of roasted coffee, maybe bit of chocolate. Taste of very dark coffee, very dark chocolate, quite dry - bitter, a bit alcoholic, a bit roasted caramels, malts, with soury-bittery aftertaste. Low to medium carbonation and medium body. Overall tastes more like an Imperial Stout to me, not a Porter, but it’s too weak for Imperial Stout too. Not bad beer but there was nothing special in it to be honest.

PL: Butelka 341ml kupiona w Liquor Mart w Winnipeg. Przelane do kieliszka. Niemal czarna barwa z lekkimi czerwonymi przebłyskami, średnia ciemno-beżowa piana. Aromaty palonej kawy, może nieco czekolady. W smaku bardzo gorzka czekolada, całkiem wytrawne, gorzkie, nieco alkoholu, nieco palonych karmeli, słody, posmak kwaśnawo-gorzki. Niskie do średniego nasycenie, średnie ciało.

Pours almost black with a little head. Not much lacing. The taste is of bitter coffee with sour notes that really through me. A little thinner than I had expected. Not as much Porter as I would have liked. Good beer though.
