Radek Kliber (3332), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 26, 2007 Growler 1.89L
Marketed as English Ale.
Appearance: dark amber going into black tea, good medium fine and creamy top.
Bitter green aroma with lighter citric ginger touches. Soft yet spicy with hints of malty dough behind.
Smooth, clean medium bodied ale. Quiet strong hop presence that was blended with ginger like flavours. Clove and spices found as well as in many seasonal holiday brews. Finish woody and earthy with some mineral touch. Fine, quiet complex pub ale.
HogTownHarry (3285), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Apr 13, 2007 Growler - from the BrewPub. Shared with blankboy, jerc, mabel, mds and tupalev - growler thanks to tupalev. Deep clear ruby, decent off-white head. Nice roasty, nutty sweet aroma, mild yet slightly peaty - nice. Solid brown ale taste, nutty, nice bittering in the finish. Average body, mild astringency and carbonation, pleasing and drinkable. jerc (3217), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 14, 2007 Growler courtesy of Tupalev. Dark amber brown body with a moderate beige/tan head. Moderately roasty aroma with a bit of a strange undertone that I can not put my finger on. Lightly nutty, mildly roasty flavour. Mild malt and appropriate bitterness. Average palate. Serviceable - not bad. blankboy (2625), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 21, 2007 Growler shared with HogTownHarry, jerc, mabel, mds & tupalev -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a clear deep amber with an average size diminishing off-white head. Aroma of lightly roasted malt, some smoke, grain, nuts and light hops -- nice and not at all what I was expecting. Flavour’s the same: Lightly roasted malt, some grain, nuts, smoke and light hops -- tasty. Medium bodied. Pretty good stuff, I quite liked it. DougShoemaker (2614), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 27, 2007 Full leafy, hoppy nose, strong malt too, copper, pours a large short lived tan head. Big fruity hops flavour burst, red plums and other pitfruit, with a fine underpinning of malt. Very well balanced, nicely bitter. Terrific version! Sadly the last new beer by the former Brewmaster Michael Duggan. All good wishes for You Michael.
