starts of with a punch of a gross sweetness then some hops bounce on the tounge then ever so lightly I think i taste caramel/toffee and citrus. Not a terrible beer but not that great and a tad watery.

Bottle from their mixed sixer. Pours a nice amber with a small white head. Aroma is decent, some British malts, subtle hops, very well blended. Flavour is also quite nice, subtle but firm, if that makes sense. Nice classic but watered down ESB malt character (classic to me, as I guess in Ontario we have primarily generic examples to compare to), not a whole lot of body, but what’s there seems fairly adequate. Goes down pretty easy, makes more sense as a regular Bitter as opposed to an ESB. Chocolate and black currants? Not really. I think Mill St. has issues regarding what constitutes legitimate examples of certain styles, whether intentional or not.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Phatman (103) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 13, 2011
from bottle, pours a clear copper colour the a thin receding head. some maltyness on the nose nothing complex a bit of a struggle to get anything meaningful from it, carbonated. Nice malty flavour initially, a bit plain. Leading to bread like flavours. Not particularly long lived. Excessively carbonated in my opinion spoils it, results in a fizzy sensation rather than that of a smooth bitter.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 probstk (1911) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 6, 2011
355 ml bottle in a mixed 6-pack from LCBO, served cold in a tulip glass. 18NO11.
App.: Clear copper with a nice off-white head.
Aroma: Berry-like fruitiness, sweet, caramel/toffee, a touch metallic, a little earthy, a bit of a savoury/broth note, bread crust, toast, a little dark dried fruit, pretty nice.
Palate: Medium body with fine, moderately aggressive effervescence.
Flav.: Toast, bread crust, toasted biscuit, a touch earthy, much more austere than the nose – lacks sweet and fruity notes – a little dark rye; dry with fair bitterness and a restrained, British finish.
The nose and mouth don’t match, yet the beer remains fairly likable.

355ml bottle from Mill St. pours copper witha small white head, very little retention, no lacing. grainy slightly poopy malt nose. flavour of a mix bagofmalts either mashed to high or sparged to hot. astringent yet aqueous. i wont bother with this one again.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Metalchopz (1173) - Quebec, CANADA - DEC 5, 2011
Got this one in the Mill Street Seasonal Sampler IV. Pours a clean deep amber colour with a small off-white cap with average retention and a bit of lacing. Aromas of roasted and caramel malts, mild dark fruits, hints of molasses and a little hop. The mouthfeel is pretty wet, kind of boring with no stickiness to it and falls short. The taste is a bit too mild as well. A lot compared to the decent nose. Watery caramel, bread and a tad hop bitterness in the end. I would like to see this one less diluted with more punch to it.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 cyrenaica (745) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 4, 2011
341ml bottle
4.6% ABV
I triued this beer on December 2, 2011 after purchasing a mixed 6-pack of Mill Street brews from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a translucent orange-red with a thin white cap. The aroma was floral and citrus hops, brown sugar, and caramel. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour had a bunt leaning to it, was grainy, with a bitter finish

355ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a small white head and a few spots of lace. Aroma is very light hops and a hint of light roasted malt. Taste is malty sweet with a hint of pepper and a lingering hoppy bitterness which is not sitting well with me. Not quite as good as some of the bitters that I have tried.
