3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Metalchopz (1784) - Cantley, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 5, 2011
Got this one in the Mill Street Seasonal Sampler IV at the LCBO. Pours a clean light copper colour with an off-white head that is big, disappears at a medium pace and does not create much lacing. Pretty mild aromas of caramel and fruits (very light bananas). Medium-light mouthfeel with not much to it. Again, a balance of light caramel and bananas for the taste. Has a bit more taste than their ESB I just had, but overall not a powerful bock. Not even sure if it is good for a starter in the style. Easy-drinking is pretty much all I have to say - for a 7% ABV.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 cyrenaica (942) - Milton, Ontario, CANADA - DEC 4, 2011
341ml bottle
7.0% ABV
I tried this beer on December 2, 2011 after purchasing a mixed 6 pack of Mill Street beers from one of my local LCBO outlets. The beer poured a translucent copper colour with a thin white ring for a head. The aroma is dark fruits, some roast, and some weak cherry hints. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is sweet malt, some fruit, and a bitter finish. Not a bad beer, but not a great beer either.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 reebtogi (3383) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - NOV 25, 2011
355ml bottle pours amber in color with a small white head that leaves little lacing behind. Aroma is mild caramel. Taste is malty sweet with an undesirable hoppy bitterness in the finish. Body is light to medium and carbonation is light. Certainly not the best example of this style.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Spab (1688) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 19, 2011
355 ml bottle from LCBO (from Seasonal Sampler VI). Pours a clear dark orange/amber with small off-white head. Sweet malty aroma of caramel and brown sugar, with some graininess. Flavour is almost candyish in sweetness with lightly toasty caramel and grains, fruit and brown sugar. Medium+ body. Not a standout but not unpleasant.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 whitecap (283) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 16, 2011
Had this on tap in May 2011 at the Mill St. Brewery. pours pale copper with an off white head. Aroma is malty with some fruit. Lots of malt and some honey. Was not the biggest fan. Overall this beer tasted incomplete.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 AWS9 (419) - Mississauga, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 19, 2011
On tap at the brewpub. Brownish red pour. Some honey, with a strong malt backing. Slight stickiness. Good stuff. Not very complex, but it works for me.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 JoeMcPhee (7671) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 14, 2011
Pale copper coloured pour. The aroma is a little bit sweet and lightly peppery. There is a bit of soft sweetness and some fairly ethanolic flavour as well. As it starts to warm, there is an unpleasant rancid character. Crappy stuff.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 blankboy (5191) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 8, 2011
Draught at the brewpub. Pours a clear orange-copper with an average size diminishing fizzy off-white head. Mild aroma of lightly toasted grain and malt, fruit, sugary sweetness and some light alcohol (a bit rye-like) -- it’s quite mild and hard to guage. Slightly watery, earthy flavour of toasted grain, caramel malt, fruit, a bit of rye, some light sweetness and a mild short bitter finish. Average bodied. I’m not big on Bocks so I couldn’t say either way if it’s on style or not, personally I found it just OK.
