COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
True IPA’s were high in both alcohol and hops to survive the long hot voyage from Britain to India. This makes it a big and flavour beer style. Our version is no exception. Traditional English malts and hops are used to give this copper brew a big flavour. This beer has a slightly roasted note with a strong hop bitterness and flavour.

Draught at the pub. Copper amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma is sweet, floral with a moderate hop aroma. Some nice lingering bitterness.

On tap from brewpub. More of an English style with good malt presence, but a reasonably light hop presence. Nice stuff.

Deep amber pour with a tight white head. The aroma is lightly sweet with some soft crystal malt sweetness and an (unfortunate) iced tea character that I could do without. Light citrus and a bit of toasted grain. As it warms up though it takes on a more intense citrus and spice note, with a herbal sort of aromatic hoppiness that I kind of enjoy. Sort of a Janus, this one is.

On tap at the brewpub, served in a shaker. Pours hazy orange-amber wit ha small, off-white head. The head remains and leaves a small amount of lace. The nose has toasty malts, citrus and some pine. The flavour is moderately sweet throughout with a hint of bitterness. The bitter builds towards the end, but it is fairly well balanced overall. There are notes of caramel, earth, resin and a hint of nuttiness. On the palate, it is medium in body with a smooth, watery texture and soft carbonation. Overall, a decent ale, but I would have liked to see more hops in the nose. 2011-05-29

Surprisingly disappointing. Not really all that hoppy, not really all that malty, not really all that punchy. Just a dry graininess and a lingering sharp bitterness. It’s boring: the last thing an IPA should be.

Tap at the brewery. Aromas of hops, citrus, pine, and floral notes. Some sweetness. Taste is hoppy, and malty. Well balanced but not overly bitter. Fairly mellow. I was let down.

On tap at the Brewpub. Very enjoyable IPA. There is a nice balance in between all the components. It is quite drinkable in spite of the bitter and alcoholic nature of IPAs, which could potentially put me off but doesn’t at all. Very floral! Very nice beer.
