inebrius (6), Ferndale, Michigan, USA does not count Jan 17, 2005 Clusters of gooey aroma ease up the sides of the glass, marshmallow oat treats baked in a fruitwood fired oven, old struck matches in morning wet meadows. Flavors crisp and clean touched by light honey and an acute finish of oak flavored greens.
This beer is designed for day hikes: a modest container, an ability to maintain good flavor--improve even--as it warms, refreshing and intricate. Pack a dozen in the rucksack and crack ’em for contemplation at the top of Sugarloaf.
JustinBathurst (134), Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada Mar 13, 2004 Poured a small but bubbly and frothy head for the first, and a fairly substantial one the second time. An extremely clear straw gold. Looks great.
Smells of floral hops, apple cider, celery (which seems strong at times).
Has a crisp, hoppy, bitter, but well-balanced, taste. Some honey sweet. It lacks the overwhelming metallic taste of many local beers I've had of late (which would be fine if it didn't take your tongue hostage). Only downside to the taste is the somewhat neutral bitter finish, which detracts from the rest of the positives.
The retro-leaning logo, sleek bottle and mass-appeal of this beer suggest that it is everything that Steam Whistle tries to be (except for organic, I guess). Only downside is the small bottle which requires you to plow through two bottles to get your usual one. dhurtubise (569), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Apr 28, 2003 This is a beer in the North German Pilsener style - like a Becks. It has a perfect balance btw malt and hop bitterness balance. A light residual sweetness helps to promote the malt character. All noble hops. This beer is extremely well put together wonderfully quaffing. Excellent rendition of the style. iambeer (255), Ontario, Canada Sep 3, 2006 Not a huge fan of the lager, but this one is crispy, slightly citrusy and a smooth. closer to a lager then any macro, man these guys know how to make beer. mnurda (354), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Jun 14, 2007 On tap at The Beer Bistro in Toronto.
