Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice

341 ml bottle. Pours a clear coppery amber with a short lived white head. Aroma is caramel malt, biscuit, dryness. Flavor is caramel, biscuit, sweet, fresh, fruity, some pepper. Finish has good herbal and earthy hops. Along with dark fruits. Lingering fruit flavor. Body is thin, average carbonation. Good, refreshing and easy drinking.

If youre from ontario you already had this and really dont need to read my review. A mildly interesting, lightly hopped ale that will neither offend or excite. Worth ordering when your other options are steamwhistle or bud.

From keg in a Toronto hotel, served so cold with a glass with ice on it! Just what I needed for an ale when it’s below freezing outside... So the review may be a bit harsh given the chill. Amber red in colour. Quite a malty background, some bitter grainy malt, then a fair load of hops. Tasted ok, maybe a little chemically and clunky. Was surprised to see how good the other reviews are, could retry in a more amenable setting at some point.

Meh all around. Looked great. Got a little metallic flavour off the nose and initial palate (most likely from the cap/bottle)

First drink coming off the wagon - last time I didn’t drink for 12 days I was about 14 years old - is disappointing. Look: I’ve had this beer many times but this is my first time rating it & let me tell you this is not the beer you want to welcome you back to beer world. Taste is complex malt & cold coffee. Best option at horseshoe tavern at kid Congo powers show.

Pint in a restaurant in Kitchener (Ont.). Pours dark copper-red with tiny off-white head. Not much lacing. Aroma is malty, with some very earthy hops. Taste is fruity, malty and earthy. Not exactly what you expect from an APA. Maybe freshness was an issue here.

On tap at The Madison. Poured a nearly clear caramel with a thick, off-white film head with slight lacing. Aroma has notes of caramel, dark fruits, and green apple. Taste is a malty bitter with a drawn out mild bitter. Medium body with a low-medium carbonation. Creamy texture in the mouth but still crisp and refreshing. Overall not bad. Like a mix of an IPA and a brown ale. Would order again over the regular swill.

341mL bottle pored in A&W glass. Smells of roasted hay. Clear coppery red-brown brew with very thin white head. Head dissipates quickly. Very bitter with a spiced bite to it. Enjoying the bitter but the spiced-sour flavour is definitely taking away from the darker malt flavours I wanted to experience in a five malt beer. Bottle boasts complexity of flavour - it may be too complex. Thin, medium body keeps beer palatable. Carbonation is lost when poured. Has an astringent quality to the finish with a bitter aftertaste that seems to last forever. Taste becomes almost acquired as you drink. Definitely not for everyone. Would not turn this down if offered another - but probably won’t buy this one again.

Copper red in colour, fairly bitter&spicy taste with medium carbonation. Best Canadian pale ale in my opinion.
