Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice

A promising start on the aroma front this beer sadly falls away when your lips and nose are struck by the carbonation which is way to intense and strikes me as a mask for the beer’s shortcomings. A shame as its other elements are very encouraging indeed.

Crimson/copper pour, aggressive carbonation lead to a consistent thin head. Not much on the nose. Detect hints of caramel and slight hops. I like the balance and the touch of bitter hops on the palate but I’m not a fan of the thick, carbonated mouthfeel. Finishes nicely.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Rotem. Pours orange rusty with a medium head, aroma of tangerine, malt, some hops, flavor is bitter and dry with malt and no sweetness, medium bodied, easy to drink

Pours a reddish deep copper with small white head leaving a nice sticky lace. Aromas of citrus and a nice malty mixture of pale malts and caramel. Great full mouth feel with the up front malt flavours then hit by a dry citrus finish that works well together. Fantastic beer.

UPDATED: MAR 18, 2014 On tap at YYZ airport brew pub. Pours a reddish copper with a small head but nice lace. Smell is of citrus hops and pale malts. Taste is a nice hoppy tasting dry malt flavor. Excellent dry finish to this pale ale. Overall a great APA but a bit too hoppy and bitter. for the style.

Biere brune a 5,2% alc. En 341 ml. Odeur de malt caramélisé. Faible présence de houblon. Excellent goût de caramel brulé. Effervescence moyenne et mousse absente. Léger goût d'epices. Biere surprenante! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Rotem. Pours reddish bronze with a thick off white head. Hoppy, grainy aroma. Tastes malty with a gentle bitterness. Bready, long aftertaste, soft carbonation, light body.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks Rotem. Clear bright reddish amber with an off-white head. Aroma of stale hops and some malt. Flavor has a bit of caramelly and biscuity malt, a bit of hops and a moderately bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Decent.

On tap at a pub in downtown Ottawa during our first outing as a residency group. Pours a reddish bronze. Woody, spicy aroma with some off putting burnt caramel. Milder flavor, thin of bitter pine and orange peel. Not bad.
