Like traditional pale ales, Tankhouse Ale has a deep copper-red colour. We use five different malts to produce a complex malty texture. The most dominant character of our Pale Ale is the hop. The spicy Cascades is used to give an assertive hop flavour, aroma and bitterness to our ale. The result is a satisfying and complex-tasting beer. Our brewmaster developed this recipe 20 years ago and it has remained his favorite drink of choice

Bottled. Strong and sweet aroma. Deep copper hue with no head. Sweet start which leads into a long bitter and hoppy finish. Very good.

1/4 of a flight at the brewpub in Toronto. Clear copper with lasting off white head. Aroma is of bananas, clove, and some citrus. Flavors of caramel, cola, sweet malt, and a slight citrus rind bitterness, followed by lasting bitter aftertaste. A bit thin, but enjoyable on a hot summer day.

Finally rating, but from bottle poured in glass. Have tried many times on tap. Pours an average size creamy off white head and has a dark pale amber appearance. medium carbonation and retention. Pretty good lacing. Aromas are very malty and hoppy, fairly well balanced. Has a really good smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Some bitterness. Flavours are also quite malty and hoppy, not too strong from either, also well balanced. Roasted malts and nuts, some spices and hints of caramel. Very tasty and quite an enjoyable beer from Mill St. Probably one of my faves, bottle or otherwise.

Draft in Toronto. Amber in all ways. Basic flavor & appearance. Good though. Easily best of 3 Mill St products I’ve had.

UPDATED: MAY 19, 2016 Toffee nose, copper-brown clear color with a wisp of a rim. Sweet citrus and toffee taste with rye malt and a tinge of hop and grapefruit on the palate. Finely made ale.

341ml bottle from LCBO bought a while ago by wife. Aroma: caramel, old cereals, medicinal notes as it warms up. App: clear copper reddish, medium frothy off white head, little retention, good lacing. Taste and palate: medium body, medium sweetness, more caramel in mouth, moderate carbonation, moderate bitter finish. Overall: not so good but way better than expected. A sweet, sticky ale. As the expression says well: a swill a day keeps the doctor away. Dp.

Pours a clear copper with a small offwhite head that leaves some lacing. Nose is of caramel, pine and something that could be alcohol (that would be strange, coming from a 5% ABV brew) but that I will call hop oils for now. Taste is moderately bitter and offers mostly caramel again. Body is light, carbonation moderate and mouthfeel is watery. It was alright overall but really oldschool and a bit watered down. Way too much caramel.
