Bottle from Cellars St. Paul-Larpenteur. Not much aroma to speak of; some fresh roasted malt. Clear dark gold, nearly amber. Darker in color than most "blondes" I’ve had. I was surprised when I read that this brew was intended to compete with Bass Ale, since it’s supposedly a blonde. Doesn’t really have that light hop that Bass has. This isn’t much different than the Lite Amber; perhaps a little less strong in the malt aspect. Probably better than regular miller lite, but this one begs for more flavor. From a flavor perspective, this brew has the least of the 3 brews in the ML Brewers Collection. The Wheat is the best. Now that I’ve tried them all I have a couple of conclusions: 1) All 3 are solid light beers and among the best light beers (soon to be) readily available, 2) It is really hard to inject flavor into beer while keeping the calorie count low and the ML Brewers Collection does little to dispel that truism, and 3)I’ll never get back the $4.77 I spent on one bottle of each although the fact that it was during the test market stage when few others had done so was somewhat worth it.

Light yellow color with faint white head. Light hops on the aroma but a grainy body with a faint metallic finish.

Bottle from Albertsons. Very light amber appearance upon pouring. Weird musty aroma. Smells almost like dead algae. Tastes like seltzer water with a hint of beer and a splash of sweat. A slight hint of bitterness in the finish.

Pale gold pour with off-white head. Aroma is pale malt, mild honey notes, perhaps a bit of citrus. Tastes watery, with some pale malt and honey flavors, but not enough flavor or balance to make any meaningful impact on me.

12 oz bottle poured into a glass. Thin and corny, this beer is a better Miller Lite -- but not by much.

12 oz bottle. Lightly toasted biscuit malt, copper, and wet sod on the nose. Pours bright clear copper with virtually no head. Flavor is grainy, slightly watery with a touch of toasted biscuit. Slightly watery but leaning toward medium bodied. Nothin special.

Sampled via 12-oz bottle at Cellars Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear golden pale brew with a fast dissolving white head that dissipates to a fine film and thin white ring. Aroma of light multi-grain malt, lemon zest, some grassy hop character and a touch of white pepper. Taste is light bodied, spritzy, along with an early infected vinegar flavor that hides most of the caramel malt flavor. Finish is metallic, slight vinegar with a mild bitter aftertaste that quickly disappears. A leaner towards the offensive side which make this as my least favorite of the series.
