Bottle from A Tutta Birra, Milano
lame label

Hazy dark amber color, with giant head, and too much yeast in the bottle and under the cap. Some aroma of medium roasted malts and mild spices. Good body, dark caramel flavor; dusty chocolate, maybe with a nutty and spicy edge; there is also some yeast astringency. Quite good, but rough.

Bottle. A clear, amber colored beer topped by a dense, light beige head of moderate size. The aroma gives a dryish impression, with some caramel, nuts and dried fruits. Lightly earthy both in aroma and flavor. Else the flavor has nuts and caramel, some bitterness and prunes in the back. Dry, medium bodied and a bit hard on the carbonation. Not my favorite Belgian Christmas beer, but a decent one anyway. 120622

Sampled at OBER Kerstbierfestival Essen 2011. Opaque dark red color, small off-white to beige head. Smell and taste sweetness, lightly some hops. Decent carbonation, medium body. Note: according to information in the festivalbook: "Brewer DaniŽl Lessage alters his recipe each year and therefore also the name of the christmas-beer changes".

Thick cream-tan head, resistant with good lace over fully opaque reddish-brown beer. Woody, chocolate(malt), cocoa powder, gravy reduction and dark green leaves. Very dry, melanoidin-filled taste; again cocoapowder, and hardly a trace of sweetness. Background spiciness, but impossible to identify individual spices. Warming up, Iím getting coriander, making it just a tad soupy. Bonedry; smooth and very slick. Well-carbonated, spritzy feel. Another good one by MIllevertus. Apparently the 2012 version.
