330 ml bottle @ Restobières, Brussels. Not too sure about the style here, please change if any other thoughts. It’s surely a brown ale, but definitively Belgium style, not exactly a dubbel either, so the more general term Belgium Strong Ale is the closest I get. Brown in colour as already mentioned, quite unclear with a rather small beige head. Aroma has sweet malt, candy sugar, spices and Belgium yeast. Flavour is sweet and spicy with candy sugar and yeast. Fine and balanced body, sweet in aftertaste, still a bit too much yeast here. Rather balanced and alcohol is dangerously well hidden. Smooth and yeasty.

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2015 15cl taster at Brugs Bierfestival. Chestnut brown, just a few bubbles as a head. Chocolate, clove, caramel in the sweet creamy roasted malts, slight acidity and bitterness. Lingering wine-like finish. No carbonation, medium body. Re-rate with bottle at home: no head, nice dark brown colour. Complex sweet, spicy and slightly bitter tones; dry finish. Needs more body.

(Millevertus La Papesse) Bottle 330 ml at home, served into a tall tulip, ABV 9.69% Chestnut brown colour on the body, huge beige head, very thick and also kind of creamy, with excellent retention, leaving medium lacing behind. Aroma of red fruits, milky chocolate, toffee, maybe some berries. Nice taste, caramel, coffee, chocolate, red fruits, toffee, alcohol, light nuts, prunes, dates. Medium body, good carbonation, a bit sticky on the palate. Really tasty beer, great surprise for me, and for that price definitely a must-buy.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared with Dutchdrebus. Brownish reddish color, very small off-white head that disappears almost instantly. Aroma is malts, sweetish, lightly bacon. Taste malts, sweetish again. Hard to describe otherwise. Not smoked, no bacon like I got in the aroma, but weird and indescribable. Decent body and carbonation. Ok beer.

Coffee and caramel. A bit too strong, taste like a quadrupel. Keep it for the very end!!

Rusty, even orangeyish small to medium head; unclear medium-brown beer. Woody & hoppy nose, and USA hops, I think. Alcohol & fusels, caramel. Hoparomas prove to be volatile, remainder is - a bit syrupy - sweet-smelling. Bitterish, sweet, liquorice/jap, nutty, but also a rather marked saltiness, almost fish-like, as lightly smoked herring or mackerel - of course not outspoken, but the reminiscence is there immediately. Yeast feature? There are some yeast notes anyway. Flavours hide the alcohol very effectively. Chocolate warming up. Well-bodied, slick to oily. Fine, titillating carbonation. Truly weird flavour. But it’s certainly not a bad beer.
