Reddish brown colour. Vague berry fruit aroma. Flavours are muted with some toasty malt and maybe a hint of licorice. Sweetish and a touch thin. A bit nondescript really, but it’s soft and easy drinking in a quite traditional style. Which, of course, is part of the raison d’etre of milds, so it wouldn’t be right to be critical because of it’s lack of depth. In other words, a perfectly decent session beer, but not one to analyse too much. Cask (handpump), Wenlock Arms, London.

Cask@The Wenlock Arms, London. Quite a thin and particularly light mild. Its fairly dark, but tastes like there is minimal roasted malt used. Definitely soapy. Slight raisin and breakfast cereal flavours, quite watery.

Gravity @ Medway Beer Fest. Deepest darkest scarlet colour. Mostly soapy though other flavours do struggle to come through.Attractive bramble fruit aroma. A bit flat.
