3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Tried at the Crescent Moon during Omaha Craft Beer Week. Colony Oatmeal Stout Colony Oatmeal Stout used to be just a winter seasonal brew when it first was introduced back in 1996. But since then popular demand has made it into an all year affair. The ’oatmeal’ in the name is due the 10% oatmeal in the the grist of this brew. Oats give beer a real thick mouthfeel, something definitely desirable in a stout! Black malt and roasted barley give the beer its color, and coffee-like flavors.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Upping my stout AND Iowa cred with this one. Pour is dark as expected, not quite black but surely not clear. Thin palate gives way to some roasted oats, I dunno, some of the other 200 ratings will be beter for you to read.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
One year bottle pours dark brown black with a small amount of tan fizz. Modest aroma of roasted grains with a light sweetness. The brew goes down very easy when cold. Flavors of sweet roasted barley fell oatmeal start with a light hearted fell but become fairly fillinfilling 5.6% beer. There is a light dark chocolate and dark berry flavor underneath the roasted grains as it warms, nice grainy feel with rounded flavors. Pretty enjoyable, would grab another next time I?m up north.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft pour at catfish Charlie's in Dubuque. Almost black with off white head. Creamy indeed. Nothing special or complex about this beer but I really like it. Just a good tasty creamy standard stout.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with thin head, leaving a tan ring. Very slight spotty lace. Aromas of chocoloate, roast, mildly of dark fruit berries. Same in taste, smooth, full bodied richness. Pretty good not light or watery. The oats definatly give this 5.6%er some depth. Solid stout. Tastes bigger than it is which is a good thing.

12oz bottle 9/29/13 (Hy-Vee Cedar Rapids)-42° in English Pint-Pours black with ruby tints with a one finger tan head. Aroma of sweetness, chocolate, malt, and coffee. Taste of the same with more sweetness and chocolate. This medium to full bodied brew is not too shabby as I was expecting worse.

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Not real great... No head... Light and syrup ie looking ... No big deal ...the main downside was the taste and over all drinking enjoyment period... it offered a half step or more below average oatmeal stout drinking experience...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Roasted nose. Sweet tasting stout. Lacks body and is watery on the finish. Ok easy drinking stout but lacks elite characteristics.
