COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The grain bill for this beer is big, and it calls for over 60% wheat malt. The Wheat malt also helps to contribute to the whiteness of this beer. The high gravity of this beer combined with the suspended yeast give it a luscious, nectar-like mouthfeel. The Yeast are essential to the beer, as they give it characteristic fruity tones such as Clove, Banana, Vanilla, and Bubblegum.

Bottle in Iowa City. Thanks to adnielsen for sharing. Pours a cloudy golden orange color with white head. Bubblegum, soapy, clove, orange dishwater detergent aromas. Bubblegum, clove, yeasty flavors. There are some things I like about this beer, but there is a little bit of a weird bubblegum/soapy flavor that I’m not a big fan of.

Bottle @ Holiday Inn Iowa City picked up @ John’s Grocery. Pours a somewhat cloudy yellow orange appearance with a thin white head. Big vanilla, bubblegum, very sweet fruity aroma. Fairly soft mouth feel. Starts out with the fruitiness that was observed in the nose but finishes better with some softer vanilla, banana notes. Not my favorite Hefeweizen but not bad by any stretch of the imagination.

Poured from bottle. Older so this review could be inaccurate. Clear golden orangish pour. Peach and apricot taste. Slight bitterness. Not bad

Bottle... Cloudy, deeply golden ale with no head. The aromatics are fruity, spicy and yeasty – pear, black, overripe banana, clove and white bread. Medium-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is fruity, spicy, and leans a tad toward the sweet side of balance. Crisp, pear, banana and clove finish. I generally dislike hefeweizens and Duke basketball. Bottle provided by growler!

Twin Cities Beer Festival. A very light hefeweizen with very little flavor or aroma. I can pick up the wheat, but bubblegum, clove, banana, or wheat sweetness are all missing. Virtually flavorless.

Bottle. Cloudy, deep gold body with orange highlights. Fizzy white head that quickly disappears to nothing. Aroma of clove, banana, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly tart. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Taste of wheat, clove and bubble gum that is unfortunately overshadowed by a solvent taste that lingers into the finish. The off-flavor is not overly strong, but it’s enough to be a distraction. In addition, this hefe is overly sweet.

12 ounce bottle from pepsican. Thanks! Pours a murky orange color with a medium sized fizzy off-white head that fades fairly quickly. Aroma of wheat, banana, dust, clay and spice. The taste is fairly strong clove with wheat, banana, pineapple. Medium bodied. Decent hefe.

Wheat and yeast with a spicy edge to it in the aroma. The flavor is of yeast, lemons with spices mixed in. A pretty good hefeweizen, not completely authentic to the source but still close enough with some good uniqueness to make it a good interpretation.

UPDATED: DEC 18, 2010 Bottle. A - Hazy tangerine gold color with a below average sized, foamy, bubbly, white head. Not great retention with a thin bubbly layer of lace left. S - Good amount of banana and a lot of bubblegum aroma. Hints of clove and other spices. Some musty, grainy, wet wheat in the background. A touch of cracker in the background as well. T - Similar to the nose with typical flavors for the style. Plenty of banana and bubblegum. Fair amount of clove, pepper, and lemon zest come in and out as well. Some grainy wheat taste along with a bit of a bread flavor in the background. Nothing too exciting, but it mixes well together. M - On the fuller side of a light body with plenty of carbonation. Has a bit of a bubbly/zesty/spritzy feel that detracts some of the smoothness. D - Not too sweet or spicy. Easy to drink beer with a nice amount of flavor traditionally found in the style. Notes: Not a bad beer. Displays flavors and aromas typical of the style with the bubblegum aspect maybe a touch stronger than others. Not as full of a head or as creamy as others in the style, and the flavors didn’t wow me as much as some others. All in all this isn’t too bad of a beer and pretty easy to drink.
