2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Terminus (2621) - Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA - JUN 2, 2012
bottle-hmm, well its probably the only double IPA brewed in NM, at least that is bottled-pours dark copper hue with a ton of floaties and a small eggshell soapy white head with lite lacing. nose is big malty sweetness, almost barleywine like, brown sugar and some toasted malt notes. this maybe old, but it still smells like a barleywine. flavors are toasted carmel malts, sweet hops and a huge splash of alcohol on the finish. has no real character yet it has an ok nose. no real infections here yet still not well put together. lots of resin/pinecone bitterness alongside the big sweet carmel malt. needs alot of work.

12oz bottle from portableparty, an Iowa tick. Thick chewy not very hoppy beer with a dark ruby color and resinous feel, more like an ASA than IIPA

This really isn’t a very good double IPA. Doesn’t even taste remotely like an IPA to begin with. Very malty beer that’s almost cloying in its sweetness. Little in the way of hop flavor. Not much here to recommend.
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 portableparty (1190) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - MAR 21, 2012
Bottle. Pours hazy copper with a big foamy soapy off white head pretty much khaki in color and it slowly settles to a foamy film. Aroma is sweet malt with a faint hop aroma. Taste is sweet malty caramel and faint bitterness from the hops. Palate is medium and sticky with a chalky finish. Easy drinking, but rather plain with no real hop bite!
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 kjohns (109) - North Dakota, USA - MAR 3, 2012
Dark orange pour with thin off-white head. Light citrus aroma with some bready malt undertones. Taste is very bready malt, quite weet, with very little hop presence. Slightly bitter lingering alcohol warmth on the back end. Not my cup of tea in a DIPA.

Very sweet and malty with flavors of corn syrup, orange, pine, and grapefruit. I bit too sweet to drink much of, but a respectable double IPA.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 esjaygee (2628) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 20, 2011
12oz bottle from Skyview, thanks! Hazy copper-mahogany with a thin tan head and plenty of lace. Aroma of floral hops, bready malt, fruit and not overly hoppy. Taste is mildly sour with caramel, floral hops and mild fruit with very low bitterness. Perhaps a premium ESB but not a DIPA or even an IPA for that matter.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ceebs25 (475) - Naperville, Illinois, USA - JUL 26, 2011
12 oz bottle. This was a decent, but fairly unremarkable imperial ipa with balanced notes and fruity, earthy hops. The pour was pretty with a rich, frothy, thick cream head, nice retention and clumpy lacing, a fairly translucent body, and bright copper in color. The aroma is largely of toffee, earth, pine, and citrus fruits. Also, gumballs, light grass, pale grains, and fruity yeast. Maybe a bit too much chalk in the body, this was also creamy, with little carbonated bite, and a rather blunt bitterness through the finish. Flavor consisted of bready toffee, slightly off-bitter, fruity citrus, clumpy earth, pine, and mixed grains. This had a few good things going for it, but some definite improvement could be made.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BMan1113VR (6531) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUL 18, 2011
Bottle thanks to SS. Pours with a deep bronze to copper body with a small tan head. Aroma is very malty, brown sugar, caramel, slightly perfumey, citrus and floral hops. Alcohol, brown sugar and bread. Flavors are raisins, rubber, malt, caramel, train wreck of a hoppy beer. Very light citrus. Might do better as an barley wine, but still not all that enjoyable. Medium bubbles, dry. Cereal, metal. Blah.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Pawola22 (2211) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - MAY 29, 2011
12oz bottle from HyVee in Davenport, IA. Pours a clear, deeper orange-amber-ruby colored body with a finger-width, frothy, tan head that dissipates quickly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma has some caramel, a bit of a cereal grain sweetness, and some musty pines and grapefruits. A bit of a spicy, woodsy, resin with some florals and a light, overripe fruit that has a touch of syrup to it. Flavor is malty and sweet up front with caramel, toffee, and toasted cereal grains. Fairly bitter pines and musty grapefruits with some florals, spiced grass, and a few overripe fruits. Caramel gets a bit cloying and somewhat toasty at the end as the hops grow slightly before finishing dry with a moderate bitterness. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a medium body and moderate carbonation. Overall, not one of my favorite Millstream beers. The hops and malt never really mingle perfectly and have something slightly off about both of them. Its a bit too sweet with an odd hop profile. Hm...
