COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pale Ale's on the coasts of this country are turning into hoppy monsters, but our beer is more mild, and about balance. It has enough bitterness to match the maltiness provided by the pale malt base. It gets its citrus zing from extensive dry-hopping with Cascade hops. This beer was first made in a few small test batches in 2003. The response was so incredibly positive, that it has worked it’s way into a year round beer. A hoppy IPA in the central plains... how exciting!

Light orange color. Mild hop and aroma and flavor, making this a very drinkable ipa, if not especially flavorful or aromatic.

12oz bottle, notched August--hopefully the bottled on month. . . Aroma of sweaty Cascades with some earth and light spice behind. There are also some biscuit and light caramel notes. Clear medium orange with a one finger off-white head, good retention. Flavor mirrors the aroma. Semi-dry with bitterness at a 4. Light prickly carbonation with a medium body. So-so.

UPDATED: MAY 23, 2008 12oz bottle, courtesy of General_Gao. Thanks, Colin! Pours a hazy, yellow-amber color; light tan head with patchy lacing. Loads of soft flowers and irises and stems in the aroma; very, very floral. Medium mouthfeel: creamy floral and earthy bitter notes; the floral character throughout is quite odd, honestly, and too dominant. Medium finish: breadiness and earthiness, with toasty malts.

Bottle thanks to pepsican - this one has a nice looking golden color with an aroma of straw and citrus. Flavor is mildly hoppy with some smooth maltiness. Decent finish. Not bad, especially for an Iowa beer.

Dark orange pour with a light white head. Aroma of fruit, caramel malt, and a bit of dry hops. Flavor is citrus and bread, some crackers. Caramel and a bit of hops. A pretty smooth drinking ale, albeit nothing all that special.

Bottle courtesy of pepsican. Pours a dark orange/brown with a small white head. Aroma of bitter Cascade hops. Flavor is mostly pale malts with some cardboard. I don’t know if this bottle is past its prime, but only a hint of the bitter hops remained in the finish. Kind of bland tasting. Not bad per se, but I wish it was a little more flavorful.

12 oz bottle from John’s Grocery. Pours a crystal clear auburn with some rising carbonation. No real head and an extremely light lacing. The aroma is not complex or extreme, but some spicy hop and floral notes. The flavor is very straightforward. Malty at first and bitter most of the way through the aftertaste. Grassy, slightly citrus, pretty hoppy. Light bodied and smooth. I really appreciate how direct this beer is. They don’t do anything crazy and keep it pretty simple. A great session beer and very enjoyable. Very balanced too.
