UPDATED: MAR 24, 2008 A white beer while watching the White Sox in Game 4 of the WORLD SERIES! 750 ml swingtop bottle from the brewery. Labels still say it’s from the closed Stone City Brewing. I may have held on to this too long again, because it is a little sour. Still, that can work for this style. Lightly cloudy straw body with a rocky, lacy head. Smell is bright and beery, with a hint of lemon, spice and hops. Sourness, as I’ve noted, probably intended (I’ve kept it in the fridge, but it was warm at the brewery). Taste includes those lemons, a bit of coriander as expected. The wheat in this example is really apparent in softening the palate. Definitely a nice summertime brew with some kölsch properties. Thick layer of yeast on the bottom of this hefty bottle. Well, I started typing this review in the middle of the 8th inning, but now I offer it as a toast to the WORLD CHAMPION CHICAGO WHITE SOX!!!!!!

12 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with Atom. This one gushed out of the bottle and all over my counter when I opened it. Pours a very hazy pale straw yellow with a monstrous white head that overflowed the glass upon pouring. What a pain in the ass. The aroma is heavy wheat, coriander and banana. The flavor is similar. Way overcarbonated. I think I actually ended up drinking about half of this beer because the other half either overflowed my glass or gushed on to my counter.

Bottle; Pour is light golden with a modest white head in this glass - Coriander, lemon grass, and a light yeast note by my estimation. The spice note is prevalent out of the gate; wheat grass, light yeast notes; and a heavy drinkable aspect that resonates well with me - for this price point, this is a nice one.

Bottle courtesy of GT2, thanks! Murky pale yellow color, thin white head. Aroma of citrus and sour banana. Taste is a bit medicinal with tons of spice and black pepper. OK.

355mL thanks to Atom. The pour is very hazy, correct SRM, cloudy light orange. Loads of yeast cloud. Big white head, enormous, settling down quickly. Spotty lace. Nose is fresh yellow apples and pineapple. Taste...whoa really good. A ton of sweet pineapple and peach ice cream. Rich, sorbet palate. Mild butter and heavier character. Feels almost dessert like. Perfect palate for style- rich ice cream, pineapple juice. Heavier body for style but still very refreshing. No diacetyl or soap character. Much better than expected. Top tier witbier for sure :)

Draught at the Millstream tasting room. Pours a cloudy yellow with white head. Aroma is bready with a sweet touch and some hints of coriander and lemon. The flavor is bready with a little bit of a tangy note. Not all that complex, but a fairly solid witbier.

Yellow with a small white head. Aroma is mostly coriander with some orange citrus. Tastes light with alot of coriander and some citrus, slight bananna bread flavor. Lots of great spicy notes when its fresh. Goes down very smooth, have drank alot of this stuff, good session beer. Definitely way better fresh, as it ages it looses alot of its great spiciness as it ages. Im rating this on a bottle that’s probably not the freshest, I imagine if I was having it on tap right out of the brewery it would add quite a bit.

[Bottle] Found a 12 oz. bottle of this. Pours a hazy straw color with about a half inch worth of white foam on top. Aroma is of fruity pebbles, orange and lemon zest. More coriander, grains and grass come out in the taste. Subdued banana and lingering clove in the finish. The body of this beer was so-so. I was honestly expecting a little more. Seemed a bit thin around the edges. Certainly worth a try though.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 OSLO (1084) - Ames, Iowa, USA - JUN 11, 2011
[Bottle] Pours clear gold with a small ring of a white head. Aroma is mainly coriander, with a vague doughy sweetness, slight vegetal notes (snap peas and an earthy, potato skin scent), and some stale wheat. Taste has a metallic aspect to it that I have a hard time getting past. Other than that, it isn’t bad. Clove, moderate bitterness, wheat backbone, coriander again towards the end. Somewhat thin, slightly chalky mouthfeel, finish length is average. Overall, I can see potential here, but there are just some offputting aspects that I couldn’t get past. Certainly not a terrible beer though.
