A white beer while watching the White Sox in Game 4 of the WORLD SERIES! 750 ml swingtop bottle from the brewery. Labels still say it’s from the closed Stone City Brewing. I may have held on to this too long again, because it is a little sour. Still, that can work for this style. Lightly cloudy straw body with a rocky, lacy head. Smell is bright and beery, with a hint of lemon, spice and hops. Sourness, as I’ve noted, probably intended (I’ve kept it in the fridge, but it was warm at the brewery). Taste includes those lemons, a bit of coriander as expected. The wheat in this example is really apparent in softening the palate. Definitely a nice summertime brew with some kölsch properties. Thick layer of yeast on the bottom of this hefty bottle. Well, I started typing this review in the middle of the 8th inning, but now I offer it as a toast to the

Dec 28, 2009 A cloudy yellow pour with minimal white head. It has a lemon zest aroma that is very clean. The taste is light and sweet, but also very flat with little flavor and an abrupt finish.

Dec 23, 2009 Bottle. Lemon/orange, coriander and wheat malt aroma - very nice. Cloudy pale yellow with small head. Slightly sweet orange/lemon, coriander and wheat malt - dry finish. Body a bit watery. On the light side but still very tasty.

Dec 15, 2009 Thanks to Brian for bringing this one back (amongst many others). While wit’s aren’t my favorite, a good one can go a long way to brightening an otherwise gloomy California day. The aroma has some nice things going for it, gloves, a bit of yeast, coriander (and ko’mander...heh) with a good dose of citrus and wheat. Flavor has the unmistakeable lemony/orange citrus thing which blends well with the wheat and a bit of banana that shows up. Finish is very smooth and crisp. Very nice.

Oct 30, 2009 Poured from bottle into new Summit Pint.
Pale hazy yellow that is very active with a fast forming head.
Aroma of major orange peel, with some coriander and wheat.
Tart orange is dominate with nice coriander notes. More tart than the typical Witbier, but not much complexity beyond that.
High carbonation and light body. Maybe a little too fizzy.
The tartness makes it quite refreshing, like lemonade. Otherwise, a fairly average Wit.

Oct 27, 2009 Bottle (kind of old bottle actually, I’ve had this for some months). Pours a semi-opaque golden yellow with a HUGE white head. I poured this on an angle and still had 3/4 of a glass of head. After the head settled it left some moderate lacing. Aroma is a little like elementary school chalkboard/eraser plus citrus. Lots of carbonation and Belgian flavor up front. The back of it tastes a little like a Hefeweizen. Very light, almost watery, and crisp on the tongue. Pretty dry, tastes a little like a watery Fin du Monde. Not a bad beer, very interesting when you consider it’s coming out of Iowa. I’d buy it again.

Oct 5, 2009 I really love this beer. My wife bought me a six pack of it just because we love John’s Grocery store. We both tried it and it has become one of our favorites. A great citrus aroma and smooth finish. I highly recommend this beer.

Sep 9, 2009 Aroma - citrus, clove, coriander;
Appearance - very hazy golden, opaque, fluffy head, excellent lacing;
Flavor - heavy wheat up front, hints of banana in the back, spice-filled finish;
Palate - extremely crisp, good body;
Overall - so much potential, sadly destroyed by an overwhelmingly crisp mouthfeel.

Aug 24, 2009 A pretty decent award-winning white beer brewed by Millstream for what is probably the best beer store in Iowa. A solid brew.
