We make this beer several months before the harvest so it can age properly. Millstream Oktoberfest is similar to the our Munich style Schild Brau, but is stronger, maltier, and darker in color. A truly special beer, to celebrate the harvest, an important part of life here in Amana.

[Bottle] Pours clear good with a small soapy beige head. The aroma is typical marzen - grainy, a little toasty, and some caramel. The flavor is not as sweet as I was expecting, aided by the fluffy carbonation. If this was a touch flatter or warmer, it would be not nearly as palatable as it is. It helps wash the sweetness off your tongue a little faster. Sub-par marzen overall. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Crisp, clear golden. Concord grape and peanut butter. Flat palate. Really pretty disappointing. (At Summer Beer Dabbler, St. Paul, MN)

This Oktoberfest beer has a full malty body and richness to the flavor. With some sweetness and caramel notes. This brew is a very traditional Maerzen,

Pour on tap, clear orange-red pour with white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, toast into a bit of red fruit, touch of spice, herbal notes, hints of grain. Taste was a mix of caramel, bread, toast into a bit of spice, yeast, touch of red fruit, finishing slightly dry, slightly sweet.

I think this is one of the best beers Millstream Brewery makes! The rich malty flavor adds to the hint of caramelly roasted notes.

12oz bottle 9/28/13 (Hy-Vee Cedar Rapids)-Pours a darker amber with a tan head. Aroma of malt, caramel, and toffee. Taste of the same. This medium to full bodied brew was again rather tasty. Nice job.

12oz bottle pours clear dark amber with very thin head. Nose is vegetal, smoky, maple, malt. Taste is malt, dark bread, syrup, green beans, smoky. Finish is weird fruit and vegetal malt. Medicinal fruit notes as it warms. Not very good.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of pepsican. Thanks! Pours a hazy dark orange appearance with a thin cream colored head. Somewhat metallic, caramel, light spice/nutmeg, toasted malty, vanilla aroma. A bit tangy/metallic, chewy toasted malty, rich cracker, herbal, slightly bitter hoppy flavor. Millstream has better German offerings.

Tap at CID airport pub. Pour is a clear amber with a small but lasting white head. Aroma is faintly chemically up font with hints of roasted malt, faint nutty spice, and a light berry note. Flavor is true to nose with a pleasant, rich palate. Something is just a little off though and I think it may have to do with line cleanliness. An odd, faintly tart and fruity note lingers for a while.
