Big thanks to GT2 for this one in trade. CHeers, GT! Pours a hazy orange-amber with a small white head. Nose is light German malts with some lager and some mild grassy hops. Flavor is similar- light malts and some hops with a bit of yeast. Light to medium in body and a decent Vienna.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
355mL courtesy of Atom. The pour is a hazy, orange amber. A large, beige head erupts with sheen, rocky appearance. Spotty lace. Nose is honey wheat bread, fresh orange, dough, rustic malt. Very nice actually. Taste is rich with unfortunately some heavy metallic character coming through and finishing with mild lemon and soap. Really hits the palate with quenching viscosity and citrus. Was in the running to be a real treat, but metallic notes throw it off.

Pretty mediocre stuff. Reminiscent in taste more of a bock than a vienna. It isn’t great.

Thanks to MNovak for my first Iowa rating, 49th State.
Short 12oz bottle. Amber color, thin white head. Aroma of toasted grains, mostly fruity esters. Tastes of mixed berries under the malts. Well balanced of light, toasted grains, earthy bitter hops. Very well made. My 2400th USA Rating.<b/>

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
[Bottle] Pours a dark amber color with a creamy white head. Sweet caramel and molasses in the nose. More subtle notes of cinnamon and nutmeg in the nose. Heavy toasted malt flavor. Mild crisp hops and caramel malts blend well in this beer. Some cracker in there as well. Oily body. A nice beer.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dark ruby pour with very minimal head. Aroma is asparagus and cough syrup. Flavor is more like a mix of veggies with some red cough syrup and a bit of caramel. Viscous finish with minimal carbonation.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Darke amber brew with big puffy head. Light aroma of sweet grains,- caramel malts, a little hay . Taste is dominated by a sweet maltiness from start to finish, with a little hoppiness rising at the end of the swallow. Palate is medium. Overall, a good brew but a little on the sweet side for my taste, even for a Vienna.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pretty standard amber; it strikes me that the length of the commercial description may be inversely related to the depth of flavors--I can’t think that this needs this much of a write-up: it’s just your basic "broad appeal" beer. Bottle.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Millstream’s flagship Schild Brau Amber is a Vienna style lager. Deep copper in color, it pours lovely with a full head that sticks to the glass as you sip. The initial sip is malty and sweet (for a lager), with a gentle rolling bite of bittering hops. With another swirl of the glass and a sample sip or two, there’s a spicy herbal aroma at the nose--I suspect dry-hopping--that opens up a small dinner party in your mouth ...not the Animal House type, but the cocktails and good conversation type of party. The layers are complex and interesting. Very clean, well balanced with an excellent body for two-row malt.
Quite simply, this is outstanding.
