Reddish amber color with a beige head. Aroma is tinny with nuts and light floral hops. Taste is mostly toasted malts with a buttery flavor. Just a bit sweet for my liking.

Big thanks to Secret Santa Eve for this one! Nice coppery amber appearance, decent head fades into a ring. Very faint aroma of light malt. Pleasant biscuit flavor, with a slightly grassy and floral hop finish. Not bad at all, an enjoyable easy drinker.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap in Amana at the Ronneburg Restaurant. Poured a rich copper color with a nice light tan head that lasted quite a while and left good lacing. Roasted malts in the nose and other aromas of carmel and slght hops. Decent mouthfeel and a solid malt flaror. Low carbonation makes this a smooth and fairly enjoyable brew.

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2005 ReRate-bottle-pours a copper hue with a fizzy white head. sweet apple, malty, aroma that has notes of caramel with notes of german funky yeast lager qualities. farily sweet, almost fruity. the fizzy body here is just not that great i admit.
tap at old chicago-iowa city, IA-pours a light copper hue with minimal white head-sweet malty aroma and some earthy notes-flavors are sweet, malty and earthy with some slight hop notes. a decent amber ale.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Light burnt orange color with very little white head. Aroma of dough and some stale malt. Crisp, albeit watery flavor with some notes of caramel and dough. A bit of Hallertau hops in the finish. Pretty bland and nondescript.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour is a dark red with a small white head. Aroma is lagery with a bit of caramel in there. Flavor is malty but dull all over. Really watery in the end and not a good rep of the style.

Thanks to heemer77 for bringing the sampler of Millstreams to TN!
This one starts with a large creamy head on a hazy, medium orange amber brew.
Light malt aroma with a whiff of hop perfume in the back.
Lightly sweet with a good malt flavor.
Well done V/O/M.

1.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
(12 oz bottle: Obtained in trade with Ughsmash, thanks Jason!) Given that the beer poured with a small, crackliní, fizzy head, and itís fading as quickly as soda bubbles, thatís where Iím starting. Unfortunately, the head is already completely dissipated, so all is left is a glass filled with hazy, dark ruddy amber beer. I think the head was off-white in color, it came and went so fast, I didnít even get a good glipse of it. Tasting the beer, itís like drinking a generic brewpub amber: sweet, sugary, caramely, floral, moderately bitter, and very cheap tasting. Itís not a very enjoyable beer when first sipped, and itís a total mess by the finish, and I canít avoid making a face of displeasure each time I allow more of this beer into my mouth. Itís not horrible on the first sip, or on sips following a good swish with water, but after a few sips sit on my tongue for awhile, yuk, what an awful plastic aftertaste. The nose is less offensive, but maybe thatís because the beer is less aromatic than it is flavorful, even when I swirl the glass. Aromas of sweet, caramely malts, and oddly enough, more than just a hint of alcohol. Body is medium, but though the beer isnít hugely sweet and there is a good amount of bitterness to cut it anyway, the beer still sticks on the palate like gum on the sole of a shoe. Despite looking still and lifeless, the beer has a sufficiently carbonated mouthfeel. And wow, swirling the glass canít revive even a hint of foam atop the liquid. This is just bad beer. It tastes awful, looks awful and doesnít smell that great either. Iím now off to complete two chores: dump the rest of this beer, and then immediately brush my teeth. No, check that, Iím brushing my teeth first.

Very nice little lager. Nice dark amber-brown body topped by an ok head. Aroma has a touch of corn at the beginning of the aroma, but that fades quickly. A touch of caramel and a hint of sweetness keep this from getting too boring. Very clean flavor, but not too bland. Very drinkable and a nice example of the style.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
5/31/2007: Rating #100 for this beer... Millstream Schild Brau Amber Lager pours a nice amber color with a moderate level of carbonation. The initial small foamy beige head is gone in a flash. The aroma is sweet caramel malt. The flavor is chewy caramel malt, something lightly nutty (walnuts?), and some fruit (apple) toward the finish. There is some mild bitterness in the finish to round out this beer since it is fairly sweet overall. The body is medium with a smooth, soft palate. Schild Brau Amber is pretty goods and gets better with each drink as it warms up.
12 oz bottle (notched S for September) as a bonus in a trade from iowaherkeye. Thanks Joey!
