COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The name Schild Brau means essentially 'Shield beer' in German. This is our Flagship brew, a Microbrew done in the style of the special beers of Munich. This beer is brewed in the style of a Vienna style lager. This style was first developed by Anton Dreher in Vienna in 1841. He used a new type of sweet caramelized malt that gave the beer a wonderful reddish, coppery color and a juicy malt character. Word soon spread to Germany where this style of beer became immensely popular, and stronger versions called Marzen or Oktoberfest were soon made. Our beer uses these same malts to attain a perfect balance between malty sweetness and a firm bitterness. Our Hallertau hops are imported from Germany give it subtle spicy flavor. The repeated awards that we have received for this beer only confirm why many people consider this beer to be synonymous with Millstream Brewing at its best.

12 oz bottle-Trade w/pepsican. Pours a clear amber color w/a slight head & good lacing. Roasted malt aroma. Flavors of roasted malt, toffee, caramel, & bread dough. Solid, easy drinking brew, more of an everyday drinking Amber Lager (they call it a Lager), not one of those special, one off, Oktoberfests. Very Yuenglingish! Definite session brew, slight bitter finish. Thanks for this one Andy!

Very malty and smooth, but with a pleasant freshness. A bit of barnyard, a bit of overripe dark fruit, a touch of holiday spice! Lightly dry finish. Nice depth. I’d love to serve this one as a beer with a bit of something extra to friiends who just grab what ever mass produced beer is on sale.

5/04/14 at Red Cow in Minneapolis, on tap in pint glass. Thick head fades in time. This place is dark but my best guess is dark copper/amber in color. Hardly any aroma whatsoever but what is there is slightly citrusy. The longer it sits the more pronounced the aroma becomes. Aroma is much better 10 mins in. It looks beautiful in the glass. Smooth with a slight tang at the finish. Tasty. Mild but with just enough interest. A good session beer. I would order another. ---Rated via the Gridfather
